BetMGM Canada Inc. runs four registered gaming sites in Ontario, publishes the deepest sportsbook rulebook in the province, and is the only operator here you can telephone. It has also been fined twice by the AGCO for how it advertises.

Cons

How We Checked BetMGM

BetMGM runs a proper Ontario help centre at help.on.betmgm.ca, and it is the most complete documentation any operator publishes in this province. We crawled it in full – 1,529 pages – and read the Ontario Terms of Service, last updated 21 April 2026, alongside the Sports House Rules.

  • The legal position comes from the public iGaming Ontario register, accurate as of 1 September 2026, plus the AGCO’s own published enforcement notices.
  • Every betting rule quoted below comes from the Ontario Terms of Service or the Sports House Rules on the .on. subdomain.
  • App data comes from Apple’s and Google’s Canadian store listings.
  • The lobby itself is a single-page app that renders a blank screen without a session, so we make no claims about the casino catalogue or its suppliers.

One warning shaped this whole review. Parts of that Ontario help centre are not about Ontario. Several articles carry a block headed “The below points are specific to BETMGM US labels”; the card article discusses credit card bans in the United Kingdom and Ireland; the online banking article says it supports banks “in the U.S.”; and the casino game rules were last modified in September 2021 and cap wins at £250,000. We therefore treated a fact as Ontario-specific only when it appears in the Ontario Terms of Service, the House Rules, the .on. navigation menu, or a regulator or Canadian store source.

Is BetMGM Legal in Ontario?

Yes. BetMGM is registered with the AGCO and appears in the iGaming Ontario register under the legal entity BetMGM Canada Inc., of 88 Queens Quay West, Suite 2500, Toronto. It holds four registered gaming sites – more than any other operator we have reviewed here.

sports.on.betmgm.ca Sports Betting
casino.on.betmgm.ca Casino
poker.on.betmgm.ca Poker
casino.on.wheeloffortunecasino.com Casino (Wheel of Fortune, same legal entity)

In practice all three BetMGM subdomains redirect to a single address, www.on.betmgm.ca, which is also how the terms describe the platform.

BetMGM Canada Inc. in the iGaming Ontario register, with all four registered sites.

The terms set out the arrangement in the usual way – the services are conducted and managed by iGaming Ontario, with BetMGM acting as its agent under an AGCO registration – and add a detail worth knowing: BetMGM is “an indirect, partially-owned subsidiary joint venture of MGM Resorts International“.

As with bet365 and FanDuel, no AGCO registration number is published. There is no active iAGCO record to point to either: the two the search engines return for BetMGM belong to other companies entirely, and both are marked Closed. The iGaming Ontario listing is the evidence to rely on.

One more thing sits in the Ontario terms and is hard to unsee. Clause 6.1 reads: “You acknowledge that We are a United States company and conduct operations in the Province of Ontario subject to a license from the AGCO.” The contracting entity named at the top of the same document is a Toronto company. The formal complaints address is in Jersey City, New Jersey. This is American boilerplate left in an Ontario contract, and it is the kind of thing that makes a reader wonder how carefully the document was localised.

What the Regulator Has Fined BetMGM For

Most operator reviews skip this. It is public, it comes from the AGCO itself, and it is the single most useful thing a new customer can know about how a company behaves.

Date Penalty What the AGCO found
March 2025 $110,000 Marketing firms contracted by BetMGM offered cash to people in the street to open BetMGM accounts, on four dates across 2024. The AGCO recorded 471 sign-ups and roughly $161,180 in affiliate commissions.
May 2022 $48,000 Social posts promoting inducements, including a launch party – and one post claiming that “the more money you put in per bet, the higher your chance is of winning”.

Neither finding concerns paying customers or settling bets. Both concern how BetMGM markets itself, and the 2025 case is the largest advertising-related penalty in the province’s short regulated history. Read it as a signal about how the company advertises, not about how it settles bets.

BetMGM Sports Betting

This is the deepest sportsbook rulebook in Ontario, and it contains two features nobody else here documents.

Edit My Bet – and What It Will Not Touch

Edit My Bet lets you change a bet after placing it, pre-match or live, on selected markets. Mechanically it is a Cash Out followed immediately by a new bet with the edits applied, and you can raise or lower the stake in the process.

BetMGM Ontario house rules page setting out the Edit My Bet terms and conditions
Edit My Bet, documented in BetMGM’s Ontario Sports House Rules.

The restriction is the part to remember: Same Game Parlays and SGP+ are not eligible for Edit My Bet. The feature most likely to need editing is the one it does not cover. Availability is not guaranteed on all bet types either, and without live coverage the option disappears once the event starts.

Same Game Parlay and Cash Out

Both exist, both have their own section in the Ontario terms, and the interesting part is where the exclusions fall.

Feature What the Ontario terms say
SGP and SGP+ Minimum two selections from one game; eligible for Cash Out; not eligible for Edit My Bet; cannot combine with Round Robin or Teaser
Cash Out Singles and multiples only – Round Robin excluded; Auto Cash Out and Notify Cash Out both exist

Read together, those rows say something plain: the Same Game Parlay is BetMGM’s headline product and it is walled off from Edit My Bet, the feature that would make it more forgiving. The number of legs it accepts is not published either – the terms only reserve the right “to limit the maximum amount of picks from a single game”. bet365 publishes a hard ceiling of 12. BetMGM does not.

The British Bet Types Nobody Else Offers Here

This is the genuine oddity, and we like it. Alongside the usual straights, parlays and Round Robins of three to eight selections, BetMGM’s Ontario House Rules publish the full British systems catalogue.

Bet type Selections Bets
Trixie 3 4
Patent 3 7
Yankee 4 11
Lucky 15 4 15
Canadian 5 26
Heinz 6 57
Super Heinz 7 120
Goliath 8 247

Lucky 31, Lucky 63 and Each-Way are there too, along with banker support inside Round Robins. For a book whose parent is a Las Vegas casino group, that is an unusual amount of British horse-racing DNA, and it is a real reason to hold an account here if you like structured multiples.

BetMGM also publishes its off-the-board pay tables, which almost nobody does. A two-team parlay at -110 legs pays +260, a six-team pays +4000, and the table runs to fifteen teams at +1000000 – with a stated maximum payoff of 10,000/1. The article even explains that the fixed table pays slightly under true odds: 2.6/1 instead of 2.64/1 on a two-teamer. Publishing the house edge on your own pay table is the opposite of hiding it.

Two general rules are worth carrying with you. Odds changes must be acknowledged by default, though you can switch to accepting all changes or only favourable ones. And a cancelled event in a parlay reduces the bet to the next lowest number of selections rather than voiding the slip.

On live streaming: we found nothing. Not one article across 1,529 pages, nothing in the terms or House Rules, nothing in the Canadian app listing. Live in-play betting is confirmed and advertised. Streaming is not, and we will not claim it.

The Casino, and What BetMGM Actually Documents

BetMGM publishes no supplier list for its Ontario lobby, and the lobby is a single-page app that will not render without a session. What it does publish is a help centre on the Ontario subdomain carrying roughly 950 individual game-rule pages, and a good number of those quote the studio’s own copyright line in the body of the article. That is where the names come from, and the citations are exact: IGT (“Intellectual Property © 2017 IGT”), Konami Gaming (“© 2016-2017 Konami Gaming, Inc.”), Scientific Games – the company now trading as Light & Wonder – (“TM and © 2018 Scientific Games Corp.”) and Ezugi, named in the live dealer rules. The same library carries copyright lines for Everi and High 5 Games, and 119 rule pages whose slugs are prefixed netent.
Read that as a catalogue BetMGM documents, not one we watched load. Most of those pages were last modified in 2021, several cap wins in pounds sterling rather than Canadian dollars, and a few slugs still carry American state suffixes – which tells you the library was inherited rather than written for Ontario. One trap worth naming while we are here: the Megaways games in that same library say “MEGAWAYS™ under licence from Big Time Gaming”. That licenses a mechanic to another studio. It does not put Big Time Gaming games in the lobby, and anyone listing BTG as a BetMGM supplier has misread it.

Payment Methods

The Ontario cashier is broad, and it is also where the help centre’s inconsistencies are easiest to see.

What You Can Deposit With

Method Deposit Withdraw
Interac Instant, or up to 15 minutes Yes
Online Banking A couple of minutes Yes
MastercardVisa Instant if the bank approves Debit instant, credit several days
PayPal Instant Yes, 2-6 hours
Apple Pay Instant, iOS only The article says no
Bank Wire TransferWire 2-5 business days to clear 3-5 business days after review

Two prepaid routes exist alongside these – the GAMEON card and the TAPPP gift card – and neither can be withdrawn to. The terms cap both at five cards and $250 in any rolling seven days.

BetMGM Ontario help centre Interac e-transfer FAQ with the full payment methods menu
The Interac article, with the Ontario payment methods menu down the left.

Three contractual rules deserve a mention because they are unusual:

  • Foreign cards, currencies and payment methods are not permitted, for deposits or withdrawals.
  • After a card deposit, BetMGM “may elect not to accept any withdrawal request within fourteen (14) days“.
  • Withdrawals are processed back to the source method first, before other options are enabled.

BetMGM charges no cashier fees of its own.

Withdrawals, and Three Different Review Windows

The official withdrawal table is clear enough about the transfer itself.

Method Type After internal review
Interac Bank transfer Within 24 hours
PayPal eWallet Within 24 hours
MuchBetter eWallet Within 24 hours
Visa Visa Fast Funds Debit within 24 hours, credit 1-3 business days
Online Banking Bank transfer 2-4 business days
Apple Pay eWallet 1-3 business days
BetMGM Ontario withdrawal times table listing Visa, MuchBetter, Apple Pay, PayPal, Online Banking and Interac
The official withdrawal table, with the internal review period stated above it.

Now the problems, all of them visible in BetMGM’s own pages.

The internal review has four different published lengths. The withdrawal page says “up to 3-5 days”. The Interac and wire articles say “approximately up to two business days”. The online banking article says “approximately 24 hrs”. The Ontario terms of service say payouts may be held for “up to five business days” of internal processing (clause 4.7). Since that review happens before any of the transfer times above, it is the number that actually decides when your money arrives – and BetMGM cannot say what it is.

MuchBetter is in the withdrawal table and nowhere else. It has no article and no entry in the Ontario payment methods menu. You cannot deposit with it according to the menu, and withdrawals are normally returned to the source method.

Apple Pay contradicts itself outright. The table gives it 1-3 business days for withdrawals. The Apple Pay article asks “Can I withdraw to my Apple Pay account?” and answers “No.

No minimum deposit is published anywhere across 1,529 pages. The terms send you to the cashier, which needs a login. The only figures BetMGM does publish are on the way out – $10 minimum and $50,000 maximum on an Online Banking withdrawal – and they say nothing about what you need to put in.

Customer Support: A Published Phone Line

BetMGM publishes a telephone number – +1-343-488-5355 – alongside email at support@on.betmgm.ca and live chat in the mobile portal. The help centre describes “BetMGM 24/7 Customer Service” and several casino articles refer players to a 24/7 care team.

That is a genuine advantage, and a rare one. bet365 publishes no phone number and no email address. FanDuel publishes neither either. Sports Interaction lists no support channels for Ontario at all. Among the operators we have examined in detail, BetMGM is one of the few you can telephone.

The caveats are two. Formal disputes go through a Customer Care Dispute Resolution programme with a 90-day resolution commitment – but the postal address for it is in Jersey City, New Jersey. And no opening hours for the phone line are published anywhere; the 24/7 claim is made for “Customer Service” in general.

The BetMGM Apps

App App Store (CA) Google Play (CA) iOS minimum
BetMGM Sportsbook & Casino 4.6 from 11,677 ratings 3.7, 100,000+ installs 18.0
BetMGM Casino 4.6 from 38,503 ratings Listed 18.0
BetMGM Poker – Ontario 4.3 from 1,789 ratings Not on Google Play CA 14.0
Wheel of Fortune Casino ON 4.6 from 1,312 ratings Listed 18.0
Canadian App Store listing for BetMGM Sportsbook and Casino showing a 4.6 rating and 18 plus age rating
The Canadian App Store listing, rated 4.6 and 18+, with the Live SGP and Live Cashout screens.

Three things stand out, and two of them are problems.

The gap between stores is the widest in the province – 4.6 on iOS against 3.7 on Android. That is not a rounding difference; it is a materially worse experience for Android users, and worth knowing before you choose a device to bet on.

The apps require iOS 18.0. Three of the four will not install on an iPhone running iOS 16 or 17. No other Ontario operator we have measured sets the bar that high – bet365 asks for iOS 15.

BetMGM Poker does not exist on Google Play in Canada. We checked the package directly and it returns a 404. The help centre then contradicts itself about Android in general: one article says to download from the Google Play Store, another says you “will be required to change the security settings on your device” – which is sideloading an APK. The stated device compatibility, iOS 9 and Android 6.0, is years out of date against the iOS 18.0 the store actually enforces.

Responsible Gambling and Limits

This section is done properly, and the mechanics are better than average.

Tool Periods How it behaves
Deposit limit Daily, weekly, monthly Lowest limit wins if several are set
Loss limit Daily, weekly, monthly Calculated on net spend, not absolute
Stake limit Daily, weekly, monthly Blocks a casino buy-in that would exceed it
Session time limit 1 to 23 hours per day Counts from login, whether or not you bet
Time-out 1 day, 1 week, 2 months, 3 months Login stays open to withdraw
Self-exclusion 6 months, 1 year, 5 years Not reversible during the period, in any circumstance

Decreases apply immediately; increases and removals carry a 24-hour waiting period. The limit maths uses net spend – the difference between wins and losses – rather than gross turnover, which is a fairer basis than several rivals use. Time-out and self-exclusion cover both the BetMGM and Wheel of Fortune accounts in Ontario, and a pending wager at the moment of self-exclusion is cancelled and refunded.

Two details are unusually well handled. The terms give BetGuard, Ontario’s province-wide register, its own section and state plainly that iGaming Ontario’s terms prevail in any conflict and that iGO has final authority over BetGuard disputes. And BetMGM explicitly separates Service Closure from responsible gambling: closing your account for convenience is not the same as a time-out or self-exclusion, because only the latter “carry mandatory restrictions”. Players confuse those two constantly, and BetMGM is the only Ontario operator we have seen spell out the difference.

Geolocation: Wi-Fi On, Even If Not Connected

BetMGM names its providers, which not every operator does. Desktop uses the GeoComply plug-in; mobile web requires the Geoguard app from either store. The terms describe the method: on desktop, your IP address and Wi-Fi signal are both checked, and “if one of the two is not confirmed, You will not be allowed to use the Services”. On mobile it is your carrier cell tower plus Wi-Fi.

BetMGM Ontario geolocation help page listing GeoComply and the VPN and remote desktop programs that cause failures
The geolocation article, naming both GeoComply and the software that will break the check.
  • VPN, VNC and remote desktop software all break the check. BetMGM names them: LogMeIn, TigerVNC, TeamViewer, Apple VNC, GoToMeeting, Apple Remote Management and Splashtop.
  • Wi-Fi must be switched on even if you are not connected to a network – BetMGM suggests a USB Wi-Fi adapter for older desktops.
  • Near a provincial border, your location is checked more often. Near the ocean or in remote areas there may not be enough signals to place a bet at all.
  • A new device can take a few days to be recognised.

Bets placed outside Ontario can be declared void, and you consent to your location data being monitored by BetMGM, the AGCO and iGaming Ontario.

Identity Checks

A small section, but BetMGM publishes something almost nobody does: the names of the companies that verify you. Identity and address checks run through TransUnion Canada (via Aristotle) and Equifax Canada (via GBGroup), with Jumio handling photo ID and proof of address.

Registration requires a Canadian address, occupation, phone number, two security questions, and a declaration of whether you are a politically exposed person. One account per player, and the same credentials work across sportsbook, casino and poker.

Security and Reputation

  • Registered with iGaming Ontario as BetMGM Canada Inc. across four gaming sites, including poker.
  • A published telephone number, which most of this group does not offer.
  • The deepest published rulebook in the province: pay tables, systems bets, settlement rules and feature terms.
  • Named geolocation and identity providers, and 2FA by SMS or email.
  • Limits calculated on net spend, with immediate decreases and a 24-hour delay on increases.
  • Two AGCO penalties for advertising and inducement, totalling $158,000.
  • Four different published lengths for the withdrawal review period.
  • A payment method in the withdrawal table with no article, and an Apple Pay entry its own article contradicts.
  • Ontario terms that describe the operator as “a United States company”, and a New Jersey complaints address.
  • A 3.7 Android app, an iOS 18.0 floor, and no poker app on Google Play in Canada.

Final Verdict

BetMGM publishes more about how it takes and settles bets than any other operator in Ontario, and less consistency about everything around that.

What you get is a rulebook you can actually check: off-the-board pay tables with the house edge spelled out, ten British system bets nobody else here offers, Edit My Bet, Auto Cash Out, a poker room, and a phone number you can dial. Limits are calculated on net spend and BetGuard is properly explained.

What you get with it is a help centre that gives four different answers on when your withdrawal is reviewed, an Apple Pay page that contradicts the Apple Pay table, an Ontario contract that calls the operator American, and a regulator that has fined the company twice for how it advertises.

Category Score Why
Legal 3.5 Four registered sites, but two AGCO penalties and no licence number
Sports 4.5 Edit My Bet, published pay tables, ten British system bets
Payments 3.5 Wide choice, but the review window is documented four ways
App 3.5 4.6 on iOS, 3.7 on Android, and an iOS 18.0 requirement
Support 4.5 Phone, email and chat, all three published
Responsible gambling 4.5 Net-spend limits, clear BetGuard section, Service Closure explained

Overall we place BetMGM at 4.0 out of 5 for Ontario bettors.

Who it suits: bettors who build systems rather than parlays, anyone who wants to telephone a person about their account, poker players, and readers who like to check the rules before they stake. Who it does not: Android users, anyone on an older iPhone, and anyone who needs to know exactly when a withdrawal will land.

BetMGM FAQs

19+. Ontario only. Gambling can be addictive. Free, confidential help is available 24/7 from ConnexOntario: call 1-866-531-2600, text 247247, or visit connexontario.ca.

Alternatives to BetMGM

If what draws you is the casino empire behind the app, Caesars is the direct comparison – the same Las Vegas pedigree and a retail sportsbook at Caesars Windsor, but with Ontario terms that still read as though they were written for an American state. If the withdrawal uncertainty is the deciding factor, bet365 publishes an exact time and an exact limit for every method in Canadian dollars and pays Interac in one to four hours – though it offers no phone line and no poker. If you want the same seriousness about limits with a better Android app, FanDuel has the deepest limit tooling in the province and a 4.8-rated iOS app, but only four deposit routes and no telephone support either. And if a verifiable licence number matters, Betano prints its AGCO number and both licence dates in the footer of every page.
