Betano Ontario Review 2026: The Deepest Cashier in the Province

How We Checked Betano

This review is built on primary sources. We opened Betano from a Canadian connection – the site is geo-blocked and serves a splash screen to anyone outside the country – and read the operator’s own pages: the sportsbook board, the live betting page, the casino and live dealer lobbies, the footer and the full help centre.

• The licence number, the licensing dates and the corporate details come from the footer of the site itself, cross-checked against the iGaming Ontario framework, at the time of this review.
• We counted the live events, the sports and the jackpot totals ourselves, from the screen, at the time of this review.
• Every fee statement, processing time, limit rule and support channel comes from Betano’s published help centre – 345 articles, public and readable without an account.
• App versions, ratings, publishers and release dates come from Apple’s public app lookup and from Google Play.

Is Betano Legal in Ontario?

Yes. Betano is operated by Kaizen Gaming Canada Inc., registered office at 199 Bay Street, Suite 2200, Toronto, under AGCO licence OPIG1241376, with an operating agreement with iGaming Ontario.

Betano publishes something almost nobody else in this market does: the dates of its own licence. Issued 14 October 2022, expiring 16 August 2027, both printed in the footer of every page alongside the reference to the Gaming Control Act, 1992 and the Registrar’s Standards for iGaming.

The October 2022 issue date matters for a second reason. It puts Betano among the earlier arrivals in the regulated Ontario market, which opened in April 2022 – this is not an operator that turned up once the market was proven.

The house rules are the Ontario standard. You must be 19 or older, and you must be physically inside the province. Betano says plainly how it enforces that: IP geolocation, plus Wi-Fi and GPS data on mobile, plus mobile network data from your carrier. A VPN will not get you in, and the help centre says so directly.

The operator is the Canadian arm of Kaizen Gaming, the Greek group behind Betano and Stoiximan, which runs in roughly a dozen markets. That international backing shows up in places you would not expect – including, as we will see, in the app store listing.

Betano Sports Betting

Betano runs its own proprietary sportsbook rather than licensing one from Kambi or Sportradar, which is unusual in Ontario and gives the board a shape of its own.

Which Sports You Can Bet On

The left rail on the day we looked carried Soccer, Baseball, Tennis, Football, Basketball, Hockey, Golf, MMA, Esports and Lacrosse, with a favourites shelf pinned above it for NBA, Champions League, MLS, Premier League, LaLiga, MLB and the CFL.

Two of those deserve a note. Lacrosse is a genuinely Canadian inclusion that most international books skip entirely, and the CFL sitting in the pinned favourites – not buried under “more sports” – tells you the board has been arranged for this country rather than translated into it.

Where the operation gets interesting is in play.

Live Betting: 156 Matches at Once

We opened the live page at random on a Wednesday afternoon in late August – a dead spot in the North American calendar, with no NFL, no NBA and no NHL.

The counter read 156 live matches, spread across ten sports:

The 31 soccer matches were not the ones you would guess. Alongside the AFC ASEAN Cup sat Argentina’s Primera B Nacional reserve league, the Armenian Cup, two Brazilian under-20 competitions and the Georgian third tier. That is a book fed by a global feed rather than a Canadian shortlist, and if you bet obscure soccer it is a meaningful advantage.

Above the list sit market tabs that change what the whole board displays at once – Popular Markets, Over/Under Total Goals, Next Team to Score, Both Teams to Score, Tie No Bet, Double Chance and To Lift The Cup. Switching tab reprices every match in the list rather than making you open each one.

Live streaming is included, with a condition worth knowing before you rely on it: you need a verified account and a balance of at least $0.50, or a bet settled in the last 24 hours. It is not a free window into the schedule.

Cash Out, and the 5% Rule Nobody Publishes

Cash out is available on selected markets, pre-match and live, across soccer, tennis, basketball and volleyball.

What sets Betano apart is that it publishes the conditions under which cash out disappears – and one of them is a hard number we have not seen printed anywhere else in this market:

• If the cash-out amount is less than 5% of your original stake, the option is withdrawn entirely.
• Every market on the slip must be active and open at the moment you ask.
• In the closing minutes of a game the option may vanish.
• If the odds shift while your request is processing, the cash out is refused rather than repriced.

That 5% floor is the one to remember. A bet going badly wrong is precisely when you want to salvage something, and it is precisely then that the button will not be there. Betano says so up front. Most books let you discover it yourself.

The full cash-out terms sit in section 15 of the general terms, which the help centre points to by number.

Golden Sub: The Feature That Actually Is Different

Player props are where most books look identical. Betano’s Golden Sub is a genuine exception, and it is worth explaining properly because it changes the maths on a whole class of bets.

Bet on a player market carrying the Golden Sub icon – shots on target, goalscorer – and if that player is substituted, the bet transfers to the player who replaces them, at the same odds and on the same condition. The original player’s statistics carry across too: if your man had one shot on goal before coming off, his replacement inherits it and needs one more to settle your bet as a winner. If the substitute is himself substituted, it transfers again.

It applies to singles, multiples and bet builders, pre-match and in play, and covers the 90 minutes of regular time including stoppage time.

The practical effect is that the single biggest risk in a player prop – your pick going off at half time – stops being an automatic loss. The only comparable mechanic we have found in this market is bet365’s Sub On Play On, which does the same thing for soccer player markets at unchanged odds.

Betano Casino

The casino is multi-provider rather than built around a single studio, and the jackpot shelf is the clearest evidence of it.

Four Jackpot Networks on One Shelf

Most Ontario casinos carry one progressive network, because most run on one platform. Betano’s Jackpots shelf held 134 games and ran four networks side by side. These were the live totals at the time of this review:

Maple Moolah is the one to note. It is the Canadian-branded arm of the old Mega Moolah network, feeding Thunderstruck II and Atlantean Treasures, and at $1.43 million it was carrying more than ten times the Age of the Gods pool. The four tiers below the headline were live too – Major at $11,527, Minor at $48, Mini at $16 – which is the honest picture of how these networks actually pay.

Having Konami in the lobby is rarer still. All Aboard is a land-based Vegas cabinet game, and its presence means the licensing runs deeper than the usual online-only catalogue.

Live Dealer and the Betano Exclusive Tables

The live casino is organised into Betano Exclusive, Evolution Live Games, Game Shows, Sports Arena and Baccarat – so both of the major live studios, Evolution and Playtech, are on the platform.

The Betano Exclusive shelf held 23 branded tables – not skins on a shared table, but rooms built for this operator. Among them:

Two details we rate. Every tile shows the minimum before you sit down and the seats already taken – 7/7 on a full blackjack table, 5/7 on one with room – so you are not clicking blind. And there is a table named Betano Ontario Blackjack, built for this province specifically.

The dealers are named on the tiles too, with a live indicator beside them, which is a small thing that makes the lobby read like a room rather than a catalogue.

Across the casino, minimum stakes run from $0.10 to $1 depending on the game, and the filter row lets you sort by High RTP and High Volatility – two filters that serve the player rather than the operator, and that plenty of lobbies quietly omit.

Payment Methods

This is the strongest cashier we have examined in Ontario, with two specific caveats.

Nine Methods, No Fees, Canadian Accounts Only

The footer lists Interac, Apple Pay, American Express, Google Pay, Visa, Mastercard, PayPal, PayPal One-Click and paysafecard. American Express is rare in this market and PayPal rarer still – having both, plus Apple Pay and Google Pay, is unmatched by anything else we have reviewed here.

There are no deposit fees and no withdrawal fees, stated plainly in the help centre, and no tax on gambling winnings in Ontario. Betano publishes every limit and every deposit time, method by method – and it revised the whole schedule on 29 August 2026, so the figures below are current to the day.

The floor is $5 on Interac, Apple Pay, Google Pay and paysafecard, and $10 on cards and PayPal – the lowest opening deposit of any operator in this set. The ceilings are where the methods separate: a card takes $50,000 in one go, while Interac stops at $3,000 and paysafecard at $1,000.

The way out is documented to the same standard, and the limits are not symmetrical:

Read the two tables together and three things stand out. Interac e-Transfer pays out five times what it takes in – $15,000 against $3,000 – so it is a poor way to fund a big balance and a good way to move one out. e-Cashout appears only on the withdrawal side, with a $25,000 ceiling and no deposit equivalent. And paysafecard cannot pay you at all: it is prepaid, and Betano warns that funding with one, without a Canadian withdrawal method on the account, will leave you unable to withdraw.

Now the caveats.

Your payment method must be Canadian. Deposits only work from an account issued by a Canadian financial institution – a Canadian bank or credit union. A foreign card will simply be declined. Betano names examples: RBC, TD, Scotiabank, BMO, CIBC, National Bank, Desjardins, Meridian, Vancity, Coast Capital. If you have recently moved to Ontario and still bank abroad, this is a wall, not a hurdle.

Prepaid cards are a trap on the way out. Betano accepts them on the way in, but a deposit made with a prepaid card cannot be withdrawn unless a Canadian withdrawal method – Interac, or a Canadian bank account – is registered on the account first. Fund with a prepaid card and nothing else, and the money is stuck.

Withdrawals: The Bank List That Decides Your Wait

Betano commits to processing a withdrawal request within 24 hours and then hands it to your bank. What happens next depends on your bank, and here Betano does something we have not seen any competitor do: it names the institutions that settle in real time.

If your bank supports real-time transactions, an eCashout withdrawal can land within minutes. If it does not, it takes 1 to 4 business days. The published list of real-time institutions includes RBC, Scotiabank, CIBC, Desjardins, Laurentian Bank, Manulife Bank, Alterna Savings, Coast Capital, Conexus, FirstOntario, PenFinancial, Kingston Community, Tandia, Integris, DCBank and the OPPA Credit Union, among others.

That is a genuinely useful disclosure. It converts “withdrawals take 1-4 days” – the standard non-answer – into something you can check against your own bank before you deposit.

A business day, Betano is careful to define, excludes weekends and statutory holidays. Small print that saves an argument later.

Verification and the Closed Loop

Betano operates a closed loop policy: money leaves by the route it came in. To withdraw to a credit or debit card you must first have deposited by some method, because a payout route is only registered once funds have arrived through it.

There is a specific trap for anyone who funds an account with a prepaid card. Prepaid deposits cannot be withdrawn at all unless a valid Canadian withdrawal method – Interac, or a Canadian bank account – is added to the account first. Deposit by prepaid card alone and your winnings have nowhere to go.

Withdrawal limits also apply until the account is verified, so verification is not something to leave until you have a balance you want out.

Those are the best app ratings of any Ontario operator we have reviewed – for comparison, NorthStar Bets sits around 3.5 across some 616 ratings, and TonyBet near 3.0. The iOS build had been updated two days before we looked, which is the maintenance cadence you want on a betting app.

One honest qualification, because it changes how you should read those numbers. These are global listings, not Ontario ones. The iOS app carries the bundle identifier com.stoiximan.BetanoRo and ships in Bulgarian, Czech, Danish, Dutch, English and French; the Android description names Ontario alongside Nigeria, Buenos Aires Province, Mexico and Spain. The 4,469 iOS ratings and 115,000 Android reviews come from every market Kaizen operates in – not from Ontario players. The app you install here is the same app a player installs in Portugal, geo-fenced to your province.

That cuts both ways. A shared international build gets far more development attention than a province-only app ever could, which is probably why it is rated as well as it is. But a five-star review from Bucharest tells you nothing about Interac withdrawals in Toronto.

Note also that iOS 14 support was discontinued during 2026 – an older iPhone will need updating.

Customer Support

This is the weakest part of the operation, and it is a straightforward gap rather than a subtle one.

There is no telephone number and no public email address. Support runs through two channels only: a live chat, reached from the bottom of the help centre, which opens onto a Virtual Assistant before any human is involved; and a contact form. That is it.

For comparison, NorthStar Bets publishes a toll-free line staffed 24 hours a day, 365 days a year. If the ability to phone somebody about your account matters to you, Betano does not offer it.

What Betano does have is documentation, and the quality is exceptional. The help centre runs to 345 articles, and it is genuinely maintained – the great majority of the payments, verification and account articles we read had been revised within the previous three weeks, several the day before we looked. That is why this review can quote real numbers rather than marketing copy.

Two blemishes in an otherwise excellent library. Several articles are duplicated – two separate entries for setting deposit limits, two for self-exclusion, two for cancelling it early – with slightly different revision dates. And more seriously, two articles contradict each other on money.

“Are there fees for an inactive account?” says: “We do not charge any fees for inactive accounts… There are no fees or charges to reopen your account after 12 months of inactivity.”

“Account Closure due to Dormancy” quotes the terms and conditions: after 36 months of inactivity, “Betano reserves the right to impose fees up to the full amount of the account if there is a positive balance.”

Both were revised in August 2026. They are describing different stages – 12 months versus 36 – but a player reading the first article would reasonably conclude that an idle balance is safe, and it is not. Assume the terms govern: log in at least once a year.

Responsible Gambling and BetGuard

Betano’s player protection tools are better than the Ontario baseline in one measurable way.

• Deposit, loss and session limits, set daily, weekly or monthly.
• Reductions take effect immediately; increases require a 7-day waiting period.
• Take a Break – temporary suspension without a fixed term.
• Self-exclusion for 6 months, 1, 2, 3, 4 or 5 years – six options, and it cannot be lifted early.
• Two-factor authentication by SMS, plus alerts on logins from untrusted devices, password changes, email changes and phone number changes.
• An anonymous self-assessment test and a Responsible Gaming Ambassadors team reachable through support.

The seven-day wait is the detail that matters. Most Ontario operators impose a 24-hour cooling-off period before a deposit limit increase takes effect – BetVictor is one of them – while Betano makes you wait a full week, and for monthly limits, seven days or the first day of the following month, whichever falls later. A limit you raise in frustration will not have moved by the time the impulse passes.

BetGuard, Ontario’s province-wide self-exclusion register administered by iGaming Ontario, is supported. Registering once blocks you from every regulated operator in the province – logins suspended immediately, new registrations refused. Betano is explicit that its own customer service cannot override it, and points to the BetGuard call centre at 1-833-776-7171.

One mechanic to understand before using either tool: a BetGuard registration and a Betano self-exclusion run independently. Enrolling in one does not cancel or modify the other, and if you are in both you must wait out each term separately, with a separate reinstatement process for each.

Security and Reputation

On the record itself: Kaizen Gaming holds two EGR Operator Awards 2024 – Operator of the Year and Employer of the Year – displayed in the site footer. Industry awards are industry awards, and we would not weigh them heavily, but they are at least verifiable rather than self-declared.

The dormancy clause deserves one more line, since it is the term here that can cost you money while you do nothing. An account with a real-money balance and no login or wagering activity for 36 months is set to Inactive. You are told 30 days before it happens, and Betano reserves the right to charge fees up to the entire balance. Reactivation is possible on request, subject to a risk assessment. One login a year avoids the whole question.

Final Verdict

Betano is the most complete operator we have reviewed in Ontario, and it wins on the parts of the product that most reviews never examine.

The cashier is the best in this group: nine payment methods including American Express, PayPal, Apple Pay and Google Pay, no fees in either direction, and a published list of the banks that pay out in minutes rather than days. The apps are the best-rated we have measured. The casino runs four progressive networks including a Canadian-branded jackpot at $1.4 million and a Konami cabinet catalogue nobody else carries. And Golden Sub is a real innovation on player props rather than a marketing name.

What holds it back is reachability. No phone, no email, a virtual assistant standing in front of the chat, and a deposit minimum you cannot find without registering. Add a help centre that contradicts itself on whether an idle balance is safe, and the picture is of an operator that documents everything beautifully but does not want to talk to you.

Who it suits: players who want choice at the cashier and speed on the way out, soccer bettors who follow leagues outside the big five, player-prop bettors who want Golden Sub, and anyone who does their research by reading rather than by phoning. Who it does not: anyone who wants a human on a phone line, players banking outside Canada, and anyone who needs to know the deposit minimum before signing up.

Alternatives to Betano

If the absence of a phone line or the Canadian-account requirement is a dealbreaker, two other AGCO-registered books are the closest comparison. NorthStar Bets is the opposite trade-off: a toll-free line answered 24 hours a day and around 400 markets on an ordinary baseball game, but a $20 floor on both deposits and withdrawals and a dormancy clause that can eventually forfeit your balance. TonyBet publishes a firm 48-hour payout window, which Betano does not, but its board is shallower, its app is rated well below Betano’s and it has no phone support either. bet365 is the closest match on product – it publishes its Same Game Parlay ceilings and pays out instantly by Apple Pay – while Sports Interaction is the one to pick if you want a licence number you can verify before depositing. Since this review was written we have documented four more of the province’s largest books from primary sources: FanDuel, which has the deepest limit tooling in Ontario; BetMGM, which publishes a telephone number; DraftKings, the only one with confirmed live streaming; and BetRivers.
