How We Checked Maverick Games
This review is built on primary sources only. We opened Maverick Games from a Canadian connection, read every page of its help centre, and checked the brand against the provincial register and both app stores.
Everything below is dated 8 September 2026. Where the operator does not publish a number, we say so rather than fill the gap.
Is Maverick Games Legal in Ontario?
Yes. Maverick Games is listed in the iGaming Ontario directory under Shelgeyr Ontario Ltd, in both the casino and the sport and event betting categories.
That is the check that matters, and it passes. The brand is on the provincial register, and its site is authorised by the AGCO for players physically in Ontario.
The number it shows you, however, is not the one you would use to verify it.
Every Ontario book publishes a registration number in its footer. Almost all of them begin with OPIG, the prefix the AGCO uses for internet gaming operators.
Maverick Games publishes “License number: GRSM1295653”. GRSM is the prefix the AGCO uses for gaming-related suppliers – the companies that supply games and services to operators, not the operators themselves.
Two things follow, and both matter to you.
First, this is not a reason to doubt the site’s legality. The brand appears in the iGaming Ontario directory, which is the authoritative list, and the footer states the AGCO authorisation in plain words.
Second, it does break the verification routine we recommend to every reader. If you look up GRSM1295653 expecting an operator record, you will not find what you expect – and the footer does not name Shelgeyr Ontario Ltd anywhere, which is the other half of the check.
What to Do Instead
Skip the footer number here and go straight to the register. Search “Maverick Games” in the iGaming Ontario directory and read the company heading above it.
That is the check that works for every brand in the province, and it is the one we describe in our guide to how the registered books handle your money.
The Placeholder Nobody Replaced
The second finding is on the page where accuracy matters most, and we checked it twice before writing it down.
Maverick Games’ responsible gambling page carries iGaming Ontario’s standard BetGuard notice. One sentence reads:
“Enrolling in BetGuard is separate from any self-exclusion you may have arranged directly with [individual operator].”
The square brackets are a template instruction that should have been replaced with the brand’s name. It was not, and it is live on the page today.
Nothing about it makes the tool less effective – BetGuard is run by iGaming Ontario and works regardless of what the page says. What it tells you is how carefully this particular page was proofread, and it is the page a player in trouble reads.
We flag it for the same reason we would flag a wrong payout figure: on a responsible gambling page, the standard should be higher, not lower.
Maverick Games Sports Betting
The sportsbook sits on the same login as the casino, and the site is unusually clear about what it is: “Ontario’s Local Casino and Sportsbook”.
The left rail runs Casino, Live Casino, Sports and Esports, plus a “What’s New” section, so the board is one of four products rather than the headline act.
Esports Gets Its Own Menu
Esports has a top-level entry of its own, alongside sports rather than buried inside it.
That is a deliberate choice and a rare one. Most Ontario books file esports as one more sport in an A-Z list, if they carry it at all.
We could not count markets, measure a margin or list the leagues, because the priced board needs an account. We are not going to publish a market count we did not count.
The Local Pitch, in the Operator’s Own Words
Maverick Games leans on being Ontarian harder than any brand we have reviewed, and it says so in three separate places.
The homepage headline is “Ontario’s Local Casino and Sportsbook”. The footer adds that “Maverick Games Ontario is located in Ontario Canada” and that wagers and deposits are “listed exclusively in CAD”.
It is a real differentiator on a register dominated by Maltese entities – though, as above, the site never names the company that actually holds the registration.
Maverick Games Casino
The casino is the larger half of the site, with separate Casino and Live Casino sections and a game search on every page.
One detail stands out in the help centre: Casino Game Rules is a page of its own, sitting beside the terms and the privacy policy. Most Ontario books bury game rules inside a terms clause, if they publish them at all.
The site also runs a Daily Quests feature with its own FAQ page – a gamification layer rather than a betting feature. We mention it because it shapes the product, not because we are recommending it.
We could not count the catalogue or list the studios. Those pages need a session.
Payments: Interac, and Only Interac
Maverick Games shows exactly one payment logo in its footer: Interac.
The footer also states the currency rule without ambiguity: “All Maverick Games Ontario wagers and deposits are listed exclusively in CAD.”

A single-method cashier is a real limitation. If Interac e-Transfer is how you bank, it is the method most Ontario books lead with anyway – but there is no card, no Apple Pay and no fallback here if a transfer fails.
The Terms Are There, but They Do Not Open
Maverick Games publishes a full contract – Terms and Conditions version 1.5, running to 36 numbered sections – and none of it is readable in one pass.
Every section is a closed accordion. The headings are all there: Eligibility, Account Verification, Deposits and Withdrawals, Money Laundering, Chargeback and Returned Payments, Suspended and Dormant Accounts, Complaints and Disputes.
The same is true of the FAQ, where the questions are visible and the answers are not. Those questions are worth reading on their own, because they tell you what the operator expects to be asked: whether it charges fees, whether there is a maximum withdrawal limit, and why it wants your mobile number.
These are the ones a bettor would want most, exactly as the operator words them.

We could not answer any of them for you, and we are not going to guess. It is the same pattern we found at the BetNova terms, and it has the same effect: a contract most people will never read.
How Verifiable Is This Book?
Every review on this site starts with the same test: can a reader confirm, in two minutes and without an account, who they are handing money to? Here is how Maverick Games scores against books we have already read.

Only one row of that table affects your legal protection, and it is the one Maverick Games passes: it is on the register. The rest is about how much work the operator leaves to you.

Support is email only, at support@maverickgames.com. We found no live chat and no phone number anywhere on the site.
That is the thinnest support offering we have documented on the Ontario register. ToonieBet answers a phone line, Betinia’s Ontario support runs a 24/7 number, and even the books without phones carry live chat.
The support page does tell you how to escalate, and it names the right destination: if the operator cannot resolve a dispute, you can take it to the AGCO directly.
The brand is also unusually present off-site – it runs an official Discord server alongside Instagram, Facebook and X, which no other book on the register does. That is a community channel, not a support channel, and it is worth not confusing the two.
Responsible Gambling and the 19+ Rule
The site carries the iGaming Ontario, BetGuard, BeGambleAware and 19+ marks in its footer, and links ConnexOntario on every page.
Beyond the standard notices, Maverick Games writes its own guidance. A section called “Maverick Games Cares: Your Guide to Balanced Play” sets out warning signs grouped as emotional, social, behavioural and financial – the kind of material an operator has to choose to write.
The help centre also lists tools we could see named but not configured: self-exclusion, deposit limits and play limits, each behind a closed FAQ answer.
So the picture is mixed, and worth stating plainly. The original safer-gambling content here is better than most of the register. The page carrying it still has an unreplaced placeholder in it.
Final Verdict
Maverick Games is a legitimately registered Ontario brand with a genuinely local pitch, four products on one login, esports given real billing, and safer-gambling writing better than most of its rivals.
It is also the least verifiable book we have reviewed. The footer number is the wrong kind of number, the operating company is not named on the site, the contract opens one section at a time, and support is a single email address.

Overall we place Maverick Games at 3 out of 5 for Ontario bettors. The product has personality and the safer-gambling writing is a credit to it; the paperwork around it is not finished.
Who It Suits Today
Maverick Games suits a casual player who banks with Interac, plays in the browser, likes esports and casino on one login, and does not mind waiting on an email.
It suits you less if you want to verify a book yourself before depositing, if you need a payout window in writing, or if you bet from a phone app.
