ToonieBet Ontario Review 2026: 28 Sports and a Slow Cashier

How We Checked ToonieBet

This review is built on primary sources only. We opened ToonieBet’s Ontario site from a Canadian connection and read its own pages: the sportsbook board, the live board, the payments page, the providers page, the help centre, the responsible gambling page and the full betting rules.

• We confirmed the operator, the brand and the categories in the iGaming Ontario directory, checked at the time of this review.
• We counted the sports on the board and the events behind each one ourselves, on screen, on 2 September 2026.
• We added up the game counter next to every studio on the providers page, one by one.
• We took every deposit limit, withdrawal limit and processing time from ToonieBet’s published pages and terms, which are public and need no account.
• We pulled the app publisher, version, release date and ratings from Apple’s public app lookup and from Google Play, in the Canadian stores.
• We tested access from outside Canada to see how the geo-fence behaves.

Numbers on a betting board move by the hour. Everything counted here is a reading taken on one day, and we say which day.

Is ToonieBet Legal in Ontario?

Yes. ToonieBet is run by Canadix Limited under AGCO registration OPIG1280338, with an operating agreement with iGaming Ontario, and the directory lists it under both the casino and the sports betting categories.

Canadix Limited is a Maltese company, with a registered address at Quad Central, Q3 Level 3, Triq l-Esportaturi, Birkirkara. Where the parent is incorporated is not what the AGCO regulates – the Ontario-facing operation is.

One thing the directory makes clear and the site does not. Canadix runs three registered brands in Ontario, not one: ToonieBet, Betinia and Swiper. They are separate sites with separate names, and a player who spreads their money across all three is dealing with the same company each time.

ToonieBet itself is not a veteran here. It first appears in the province’s operator directory between 27 September and 6 October 2024, which is the tightest window the public archive allows us to date it to.

You must be 19 or older and physically in Ontario to place a bet, and balances are in Canadian dollars.

Two Apps Carry the ToonieBet Name, and One of Them Is Not for Ontario

This is the first thing we would tell an Ontario player, because it is the one mistake here that costs real money.

Search the Canadian App Store for ToonieBet and you get two different apps, published by two different companies. Only one of them is the Ontario book.

The second app is not hiding anything – the exclusion is written into the third line of its own store description. But the two listings sit next to each other in the same search results, with the same brand name and near-identical artwork, and the word “Ontario” appears in the title of one and not the other. That is the only visible difference at a glance.

The practical rule is short: on iPhone, the Ontario app is the one published by Canadix Limited with “Ontario” in the title. On Android there is currently one ToonieBet app in the Canadian Play Store, and it is the Canadix one.

ToonieBet Sports Betting

The sportsbook is bigger than the brand’s marketing suggests. ToonieBet sells itself as an online casino – its own About page uses the phrase “Online Casino” three times before it mentions sport at all – and the betting board is the part that quietly outperforms that description.

The layout is the standard three-column board. Sports run down the left rail with a live counter against each one, fixtures fill the middle, and the slip opens on the right. Above the fixtures there are tabs for the full board, the live board and an A-Z, plus a search box for a team or a competition.

Odds are shown in American format by default, with a format selector sitting at the bottom of the left rail.

Which Sports You Can Bet On

We counted 29 entries in the sports menu. One of them, Specials, is not a sport, so the honest figure is 28 sports, each with the number of open events printed next to it.

That count is not evenly distributed, and the distribution is the interesting part.

The remaining eight sports – Padel, Floorball, Biathlon, Futsal, Cycling, E-American Football, Darts and Squash – had between one and twelve events each. Darts and Squash had exactly one.

Two readings of that. The headline breadth is real: 28 sports puts ToonieBet at the wide end of the Ontario market, above the 21 we counted at Pinnacle and well above the 12 visible at NEO.bet. But a sport with one event is a line on a menu, not a market to shop in, and roughly a third of the list was in that state on the day we looked. A longer list is not evidence of better prices, and we have not compared prices here.

For an Ontario bettor the practical read is the top of the table, and it is a good one. Football at 473 events and hockey at 163 in early September, before either season is properly underway, is a board that will hold up in October.

Live Betting

Live betting has its own section rather than a filter, and it opens on a row of sport tabs with a live counter on each.

Adding up those counters gave 139 events in play across ten sports at 10:25 in the morning on a Wednesday – tennis 56, soccer 41, e-sports 12, basketball 9, table tennis 7, cricket 6, hockey 5, and one each in baseball, volleyball and futsal. Mid-morning on a weekday is close to the low point of a betting week, so that is a floor rather than a ceiling.

There is a streaming toggle in the live bar, next to a monitor icon. We could not confirm what plays behind it, or on which events, without signing in.

Cash Out, and the Conditions Attached to It

Cash out is available, and ToonieBet documents it in more detail than most. It works on pre-match bets from the moment the bet is placed until the event starts, and on live bets for as long as the selection is still open for betting.

The conditions are worth reading before you rely on it:

• On a multiple, cash out is available only while every selection is open. One suspended leg removes the option until that leg reopens.
• Once the first match on a multiple has finished and settled, cash out is gone for the whole slip.
• The cash out margin is set by the operator, and the terms state it can be set for a specific player and can differ between markets and between pre-match and live.
• The operator reserves the right to switch cash out off for a sport, a competition or a market, and to remove it from an individual player, without notice.

None of that is unusual in Ontario. What is unusual is finding it written down this plainly, which is worth something.

Betting Rules, Published Sport by Sport

Most Ontario books publish a short page of general rules and leave the rest to the settlement screen. ToonieBet publishes the long version.

The betting rules run to roughly 30,000 words and name 20 individual sports, each with its own settlement section. The word “void” appears 264 times in that document, which is a fair summary of what betting rules are actually for.

The situations covered are the ones that decide arguments: what happens to a market when a match is abandoned, which appears 30 times, or postponed, which appears 34; how a dead heat splits a stake across multiple winners; how a walkover or a retirement settles a tennis market; and whether extra time counts towards a result. Those answers exist in writing, before you need them, without an account.

We have not audited whether the book settles in line with its own rules – that would need a settled slip. What we can say is that the rules are there to be quoted back, which is not true everywhere.

Limits That Are Published, and Limits That Are Not

The betting rules carry three hard numbers.

The $150,000 ceiling applies per day as well as per slip, so two winning slips settling on the same day share one cap. The rules also state that where a bet’s final leg settles on a different day, the day of that final leg decides which cap the win counts against.

The gap is the maximum stake. It exists, it changes from sport to sport, and you only see it when the slip rejects your number.

Payment Methods

ToonieBet publishes a deposit limit against every method, on a single page, without an account. That is better disclosure than several larger Ontario books manage.

Two things stand out. The floor is not the same everywhere: $10 with Interac or PayPal, $20 with a card or with Skrill. And the ceiling runs the other way – Interac takes the largest single deposit of the Canadian methods at $9,000, while a card stops at $4,000.

The list is short by Ontario standards. There is no Apple Pay, no Google Pay, no online banking transfer and no prepaid card. Interac is the only distinctly Canadian rail on it.

Withdrawals: 72 Business Hours, and a Ceiling That Moves

The withdrawal figures come from the terms rather than the payments page, and they are specific.

Seventy-two business hours is the number to sit with. Business hours exclude weekends, so a request made on a Friday afternoon can legitimately be approved the following Wednesday before the payment method’s own clock even starts. That is slower than the 48 hours TonyBet commits to, and much slower than the same-day promises the largest Ontario books make.

The ceilings deserve one more line. A player who wins $150,000 – the exact figure the betting rules allow on a single slip – cannot take it out in one go, or in one week. At the entry level the weekly cap is $10,000 and the monthly cap is $40,000, and the terms say large withdrawals will be split into instalments to fit. The maximum win and the maximum payout speed are set by two different documents that do not talk to each other.

Verification Before Your First Withdrawal

Every Ontario operator verifies its players. What varies is how far the request can go, and ToonieBet’s terms set the bar high.

The documents named in the terms are proof of identity, proof of address, proof of the payment method used, and proof of source of wealth and source of funds – which the terms spell out as bank statements covering up to six months, screenshots of an e-wallet account, payslips and invoices. Where the operator considers it necessary, it can require those copies to be notarised.

Two consequences are written into the same section. If the documents are not provided, the operator may close the account and withhold the funds in it. And if documents are submitted but fail its internal checks, it states it is under no obligation to explain why.

This is not unique to ToonieBet, and none of it is unlawful – anti-money-laundering rules require operators to ask. It is worth knowing before you deposit rather than after you win, because the checks are described as ongoing and can be repeated at any time, not only at sign-up.

The ToonieBet Apps

Both stores carry an Ontario app, published by Canadix Limited, and both are rated well.

The iPhone app first appeared on 6 December 2024, roughly two months after the brand entered the Ontario directory, and is on version 1.3.0. It needs iOS 16 or later and is rated 17+; the Android listing is rated Adults only 18+.

Those are strong scores for a brand this size – better than several household names in the province. They are also scores for an app whose store description leads with the casino: “more than 5,000 games” and “over 4,000 slots” come first, and the sportsbook is described afterwards.

ToonieBet Casino

The casino is where the brand puts its weight, and the providers page is unusually honest about how much of it there is: every studio is listed with a game counter beside its name.

We added them up. 92 studios, 5,855 games. That supports the “more than 5,000 games” line in the app description, which is not something we can say about every operator’s round numbers.

The concentration is heavy at the top: Pragmatic 452, Play’n GO 385, Playtech 376, Hacksaw 290, Red Tiger 254, IGT 250, Relax Gaming 243. Live dealer runs through Evolution with 177 tables and games, Pragmatic Live with 214 and Ezugi with 54. At the other end, 18 of the 92 studios contribute five games or fewer, and one contributes a single title – the long tail of the list is doing very little work.

Ontario Only: How the Geo-Fence Works

The geo-fence is hard, and it is the blunt kind.

Opened from outside Canada, tooniebet.ca does not show a lobby, a login box or a stripped-down landing page. It returns 403 Forbidden and a message: “Access restricted. The project is not available for your country for legal reasons.” It then adds a line asking whether you are using a VPN.

Inside Ontario the site loads normally. The terms confirm the mechanism: the operator states it uses tools to detect and monitor your location and will block sessions it cannot verify as originating in Ontario. Registration is closed to anyone who does not live in the province.

The practical consequence is the one every Ontario bettor eventually meets. Your account does not travel. Cross into Quebec or New York and the board stops loading – and, as the app section above shows, the ToonieBet app that does work outside Ontario is a different company’s product.

Responsible Gambling Tools

The tools are on a public page you can read before opening an account, which is the right place for them.

A loss limit is the one to note, because it is less common than a deposit limit and it is the more useful of the two: it caps what you can lose rather than what you can put in. The self-exclusion is immediate – it logs you out on activation and locks the account for the full period, with no commercial contact during it.

A published telephone number is rarer in Ontario than it should be. Several of the province’s biggest books route everything through chat and a form; ToonieBet prints a toll-free line and the hours it is open. The help centre itself is organised into eight categories, with separate sections for the sportsbook, deposits, withdrawals and verification.

What We Could Not Check

Three things, stated plainly so you can weigh them.

• Markets per fixture. The market count on an individual game sits behind the match page, which needs a session to open. We can tell you the board carries 28 sports; we cannot tell you how deep any one game goes.
• The withdrawal method list. The payments page splits deposits and withdrawals into two tabs, and the second tab is drawn after a click we could not capture. The withdrawal figures above are from the terms, not from that tab.
• Actual payout speed and streaming. The 72 business hours is ToonieBet’s commitment, not our measurement, and we could not confirm what the streaming toggle plays.

Final Verdict

ToonieBet is a casino brand with a better sportsbook than it advertises. The board is genuinely wide, the disclosure is genuinely good, and the cashier is genuinely slow.

Who it suits: a bettor who wants breadth across a lot of sports, who values reaching a human being by phone, and who is not in a hurry to be paid. Who should look elsewhere: anyone whose main test of a sportsbook is how fast the money comes back.
