Ontario Sportsbooks

There are 35 Ontario sportsbooks licensed for sport and event betting, run by companies you have mostly never heard of. This page compares the ones we have opened and measured ourselves – by sports coverage, market depth, live betting, apps, payments and who actually holds the licence.
Ontario Sportsbooks Comparison
This is the table to read first. It compares the Ontario sportsbooks we have reviewed, not every sportsbook registered in the province – 18 of the 35, each one opened and measured rather than summarised from an operator’s marketing page.
Every figure was taken from the book’s own Ontario product, on the date of the review linked in the last column. The register figures on this page were verified against the iGaming Ontario directory, which dated its own listing 1 September 2026.

Two things fall out of it immediately. Sports coverage and market depth are different things – Pinnacle carries 21 sports but roughly 1,700 events, while LeoVegas carries 6. And the books with the deepest markets on a single game are rarely the ones with the widest board.
Minimum deposits split the market more cleanly than anything else: $5 at Betano and Caesars, $10 at most, $20 at Bet99, NorthStar and TonyBet. Where a book publishes no floor at all, we say so rather than guess.
How We Compare Ontario Sportsbooks
Eight things decide where a book lands, and none of them involves what a book gives away. Each one is measured on the operator’s own Ontario pages, from a Canadian connection.
Sports Coverage
We count the entries in the book’s own A-Z list or sports rail, by hand, one by one – never the number printed on a marketing page.
That distinction matters more than it sounds. A rulebook documents every sport the company offers anywhere in the world; the board is what your Ontario account can actually open. Pinnacle documents 33 sports in its rules and carried 21 here.
Our guide to sports betting in Ontario has the full count, board by board.
Betting Markets
Coverage tells you how many sports. Depth tells you how much of each one you can bet on, and the gap between books is wide.
On a routine MLB game we counted ~400 markets at NorthStar Bets, 275 at BetVictor, 177 to 219 at TonyBet and around 110 at NEO.bet. Same sport, same night, four very different products.
Moneyline, spread and totals are everywhere. Player props, alternate lines and same-game parlays are where books separate.
Live Betting
Every book in the table above offers in-play betting. What varies is how much is live at once and whether you can watch it.
Betano carried 156 live matches simultaneously when we looked. Streaming is rarer: DraftKings is the only Ontario book we found with NFL streaming, and theScore Bet streams across 150,000+ events a year.
Mobile Experience
Most Ontario betting happens on a phone, and app quality does not follow brand size.
We read every Ontario app listing on both Canadian stores: ratings range from 1.6 to 4.8, and download sizes from 21 MB to 506 MB. Three registered books have no Android app at all.
The full comparison is in our Ontario betting apps guide.
Payment Methods
Interac e-Transfer reaches more Ontario books than any other method. Cards are near-universal; PayPal, Apple Pay and Google Pay are not.
What separates books here is not the list of logos but what they publish: minimum deposits, withdrawal ceilings and how long a payout takes. Several publish none of it.
Our payment methods guide records what each registered book accepts, method by method.
User Experience
This is the hardest thing to measure fairly, so we keep it narrow: how quickly you can find a market, and how much the book tells you before you register.
A book that publishes its limits, its rules and its payout window on a public page is easier to trust than one that hides the cashier behind a login – and several do exactly that.
Customer Support
Live chat is standard. Email is common. A phone number is rare enough to be a differentiator.
Of the books we have reviewed, a handful publish a phone line – BetMGM, NorthStar Bets, PowerPlay, ToonieBet and Betinia among them. Others run on chat alone, and one runs on a single email address.
Regulation and Safety
Every book on this page appears in the iGaming Ontario register, which is the only list that settles the question.
Check it yourself before depositing anywhere: search the brand, read the company name above it, and confirm what it is licensed for. Our guide to legal sports betting in Ontario explains how, and names the company behind each of the 35 registered books.
Sports Available at Ontario Sportsbooks
Every registered book prices the international menu, so the question is not whether your sport is there but how deep it goes.
The volume sits where the local teams are – NHL, NBA, MLB, NFL and CFL – plus soccer, where the Premier League and the Champions League matter far more than domestic sides. Tennis, golf, MMA and esports are carried almost everywhere, with depth that varies sharply.
Two are worth checking book by book rather than assuming: the WNBA, where the Toronto Tempo are new enough that market depth differs, and cricket, consistently underserved here relative to how much it is searched.
Board sizes ranged from 6 sports to 30 across the books we counted. The full breakdown is in our Ontario sports betting guide.
Betting Markets Available
Five market types cover the large majority of Ontario betting. The rest is variation on them.
| Market | What it is |
|---|---|
| Moneyline | Who wins, with no handicap. The simplest bet on the board. |
| Point spread | A handicap that levels the two sides. Called the run line in baseball, the puck line in hockey. |
| Totals | Over or under a combined score, regardless of who wins. |
| Player props | A single player’s output – shots, points, yards. Where the market-count differences between books show up most. |
| Futures | An outcome settled at the end of a season rather than a game. |
The first three exist at every book on this page. Props and same-game parlays are where the boards separate, and they are the reason one book prices 400 markets on a game and another prices 110.
Ontario Sportsbook Apps
Most people who bet in Ontario do it from a phone, and the app is not the same product as the website.
We measured every Ontario betting app on both Canadian stores. The spread is wider than the brands suggest: iPhone ratings run from 1.6 to 4.8, and the same brand can hold 4.70 on iOS and 2.5 on Google Play, because they are different builds with different histories.
Size matters if your phone is full – from 21 MB to 506 MB – and so does the operating system requirement, since four books need iOS 18 and will simply not install on an older iPhone.
The measurements, brand by brand, are in our guide to Ontario betting apps.
Payment Methods at Ontario Sportsbooks
Every book here settles in Canadian dollars. What differs is the route in and out, and how much each one tells you about it before you register.
| Method | Where it stands in Ontario |
|---|---|
| Interac e-Transfer | The method most Ontario books lead with, and the closest thing to universal |
| Visa and Mastercard | Near-universal for deposits; withdrawal support is narrower |
| iDebit | A Canadian bank-to-book route carried by a minority of books |
| PayPal | Available at some of the larger books, often with its own minimum |
| Apple Pay and Google Pay | Growing, still the exception rather than the rule |
| Bank transfer | Slower, and usually reserved for larger withdrawals |
The full record of what each registered book accepts – deposits and withdrawals recorded separately, because they are not the same list – is in our Ontario payment methods guide.
Legal Sportsbooks in Ontario
A sportsbook is legal in Ontario if it appears in the iGaming Ontario register. There is no middle ground and no judgement call.
The register lists 84 gaming sites run by 49 operators, of which 35 carry a sportsbook. Anything not on it is offshore, whatever its homepage says – and with an offshore book there is no Ontario body that can compel it to pay you.
One detail catches people out: the name on the register is the legal entity, not the brand. bet365 sits under Hillside, Betway under Cadway, Bet99 under a numbered Ontario company.
This is the short version on purpose. Our guide to legal sports betting in Ontario lists all 35 with the company behind each one, explains the difference between the AGCO and iGaming Ontario, and shows how to verify any site in two minutes.
Recently Arrived Sportsbooks
The register is not static. Brands enter the market, and a few have arrived recently enough that most comparison pages have not caught up.
Among the newest we have reviewed: Betinia and Swiper, both run by Canadix Limited, BetNova under a Toronto company, DAZN Bet, and STX – the only betting exchange on the register.
New does not mean worse, and it does not mean better. It means less evidence: fewer app ratings, shorter payout histories, and in several cases a cashier that publishes nothing at all.
This section is an introduction, not a ranking. Every arrival is dated, brand by brand, in our guide to new Ontario sportsbooks. Each of those brands has a full review behind it, and the arrivals are tracked brand by brand rather than listed here.
Ontario Sportsbook Reviews
Every book in the comparison table has a full review behind it, built the same way: the operator’s own Ontario pages, read from a Canadian connection, with counts we made ourselves.
| Sportsbook | What the review found |
|---|---|
| Betano | 30 sports, 156 live matches at once, and a $5 entry point |
| bet365 | The most-rated betting app in the province, and one of the smallest |
| NorthStar Bets | ~400 markets on a single MLB game, the deepest we counted |
| Sports Interaction | A Canadian-facing book on a shared European platform |
| Bet99 | 30 sports and 75,000+ events, with a $20 floor |
| BetMGM | One of the few Ontario books that answers a phone |
| FanDuel | Sportsbook, casino and poker on one account |
| TonyBet | 177-219 markets on a routine baseball game, with a strict cashier |
| Pinnacle | Low margins and a published policy of not limiting winners – but no app |
| STX | The province’s only betting exchange: you bet against other users |
How to Choose an Ontario Sportsbook
The table at the top answers most of this. These are the questions worth asking before you register anywhere.
Start With the Sport You Actually Bet
A board of 30 sports is irrelevant if the one you follow is priced thinly. Check depth on your sport, not the headline count.
Compare Market Depth, Not Just Coverage
Props and alternate lines are where books differ most. If you bet player props, the difference between 400 markets and 110 on the same game is the whole decision.
Check What Live Betting Looks Like
Every book offers it. Fewer stream, and fewer still carry more than a hundred live events at once.
Test the App Before You Commit
Ratings range from 1.6 to 4.8 across the province, and three books have no Android app. If you bet from a phone, this is not a detail.
Read the Cashier Before You Deposit
Minimum deposit, withdrawal ceiling, payout window. A book that publishes all three is telling you something; a book that publishes none is telling you something too.
Verify the Licence Yourself
Search the brand in the iGaming Ontario register and read the company name above it. It takes two minutes and it is the only check that matters.
Weigh Support Channels
Chat is standard, email is common, a phone line is rare. If you want to speak to someone, that narrows the field quickly.
Ontario Sportsbook FAQs
- What is a sportsbook in Ontario?
A site or app licensed to take bets on sport and events from players physically in Ontario. It must appear in the iGaming Ontario register and hold an AGCO registration. There are 35 of them.
- Are sportsbooks legal in Ontario?
Yes, if the site is on the iGaming Ontario register. Ontario opened its regulated market on 4 April 2022. You must be 19 or older and physically in the province when you place the bet.
- Which Ontario sportsbook should I use?
It depends on what you bet. NorthStar Bets carried the deepest MLB markets we counted, Bet99 and Betano the widest boards, Pinnacle the lowest margins. The table above compares them rather than ranking them, so you can match a book to your sport.
- What sports can I bet on in Ontario?
Boards we counted ran from 6 sports to 30. NHL, NBA, MLB, NFL, CFL and soccer are carried everywhere; tennis, golf, MMA and esports almost everywhere. Depth on each one varies far more than coverage does.
- Can I use sportsbook apps in Ontario?
Yes. Most registered books ship apps on both Canadian stores, though three have no Android app and two have none at all. Ratings across the province run from 1.6 to 4.8, so the brand is no guide to app quality.
- Which payment methods can I use with Ontario sportsbooks?
Interac e-Transfer reaches more Ontario books than anything else, with Visa and Mastercard close behind. iDebit, PayPal, Apple Pay, Google Pay and bank transfer are carried by fewer. Everything settles in Canadian dollars.
- Can I bet live with Ontario sportsbooks?
Yes, at every book on this page. What varies is scale and streaming: Betano carried 156 live matches at once, while DraftKings is the only Ontario book we found streaming the NFL.
- How do I choose an Ontario sportsbook?
Start with your sport and check market depth on it, not the headline number of sports. Then read the cashier – minimum deposit, withdrawal limit, payout window – and confirm the licence in the iGaming Ontario register.
