Card Betting Sites in Ontario

Visa and Mastercard Payment Method in Ontario

Twenty-four of the twenty-six sportsbooks registered in Ontario take a Visa or Mastercard deposit, which makes the card the second most widely accepted way to put money into a betting account after Interac e-Transfer. Getting money back out is a different story, and it is the reason this page exists.

Cards are the only method in Ontario where the way in and the way out are this far apart. 18 of the 26 books document a Visa payout and only 14 document a Mastercard payout, against 24 that take each of them for deposits. Six books take your card and name no card route back at all.

These are the ten highest-rated Ontario books that take a Visa or Mastercard deposit, in the order we rank them.

The table below is every book that publishes something about cards, ordered from the most specific terms to the least. Where a book publishes no figure, the cell says so rather than guessing, and a dash in the payout columns means the book publishes no withdrawal terms at all – which is not the same as refusing them.

The order of the table is the finding: the books at the top publish a minimum, a ceiling and a payout window, while those at the bottom publish nothing beyond accepting the card.

How We Checked This

Every figure here comes from the operator’s own Ontario documentation – the banking page, the cashier help article or the terms – read through the review we publish for that book. Nothing is copied from a comparison site and nothing is inferred from how a brand behaves in another market.

Where a book publishes no minimum, no ceiling or no processing time, the cell says Not published. That is a finding about the operator, not a gap in our reading: a bettor deciding between two books cannot compare what one of them refuses to state.

The deposit and payout columns follow the same grid as our Ontario payment methods guide, so the two pages cannot contradict each other.

Every Book Takes Cards In. Far Fewer Pay Them Back Out.

This is the single most useful thing to know about paying by card in Ontario, and almost no operator says it plainly on its own site.

18 of 26 books document a Visa withdrawal: 888sport, Bally Bet, bet365, BET99, Betano, BetMGM, bwin, Caesars Sportsbook, DraftKings, FanDuel, NEO.bet, NorthStar Bets, PartySports, Pinnacle, PowerPlay, theScore Bet, TonyBet, ToonieBet.

14 document a Mastercard withdrawal: Bally Bet, bet365, BET99, Betano, bwin, Caesars Sportsbook, DraftKings, FanDuel, NEO.bet, NorthStar Bets, PartySports, Pinnacle, PowerPlay, TonyBet.

Neither, despite taking both for deposits: BetMGM, BetRivers, BetVictor, LeoVegas, PointsBet, Sports Interaction.

If you deposit by card at one of those, your money comes back by a different rail – usually Interac e-Transfer, sometimes a bank transfer. That is not a problem in itself, but it does mean you have to set up a second method before you can be paid, and you will normally have to do it while a withdrawal is already pending.

Betway in Ontario is a separate case and is marked with a dash rather than a no. It publishes ten payment logos in its footer and no banking page, no limits and no processing times, so there is nothing to say it pays a card back and nothing to say it does not.

Mastercard Is the Weaker Half of the Pair

The two brands are treated as interchangeable on almost every deposit page in the province. On the payout side they are not.

Three books take both cards in and pay only Visa back: 888sport, theScore Bet, ToonieBet. The 888sport banking table is the bluntest about it – Visa withdrawals are listed at up to six business days, and the Mastercard row reads Not available.

Two more qualify the Mastercard payout instead of refusing it. bwin restricts it to “some countries” without saying which, and PartySports publishes the same limitation. Neither states whether Canada is on that list, which in practice means you find out when you request the withdrawal.

The reason is not something an operator chooses week to week: Mastercard’s rules on gambling payouts are stricter and are applied unevenly by issuing banks. But the effect on an Ontario bettor is concrete. If you intend to be paid back to the card you deposited with, Visa is the safer of the two.

Debit Works. Credit Is Your Bank’s Decision, Not the Book’s.

Every book that takes cards takes debit. Credit is where acceptance gets unpredictable, and the operator is rarely the one refusing it.

FanDuel puts it in the terms: credit and debit are both accepted, with restrictions on some card providers. BetMGM publishes deposits as instant if the bank approves. Caesars Sportsbook warns that not every issuer approves gaming transactions on debit either.

A declined card at an Ontario sportsbook is usually the issuer applying its own gambling policy – a merchant category block – and no amount of contacting the book will change it. The practical test is to try a small deposit and, if it is refused, move to a debit card or to Interac rather than repeating the attempt.

The Cash Advance Charge Is Not the Operator’s Fee

Two books publish the warning explicitly and it applies at all of them: a credit card deposit to a betting account can be treated by your bank as a cash advance rather than a purchase.

Caesars Sportsbook states that your bank may treat the transaction as a cash advance and charge for it. PartySports publishes the same warning next to a table where its own fee column reads None charged by PartySports – which is exactly the point. The book charges nothing; the bank charges interest from the day of the transaction, with no grace period, plus a flat advance fee.

That charge does not appear anywhere in the operator’s terms because the operator never sees it. It is the reason a debit card, or Interac, is cheaper than a credit card for the same deposit even when every published fee is zero.

The same charge can reach you through a wallet. An Apple Pay deposit is a card transaction with a token in place of the card number, so your issuer treats it exactly as it treats the card itself.

Where Your Card Was Issued Matters

PartySports is the only book in the province to publish this, and it is worth knowing before you deposit: a Visa payout is made only if the card was not issued in the United States.

For a bettor living in Ontario with a Canadian card this changes nothing. For someone who moved to the province holding a US-issued card – which is a common enough situation to be worth a line – it means the deposit will work and the payout will not.

The practical test is blunt: a card issued outside Canada can be accepted for the deposit and refused for the payout, because the two decisions are made by different parties — the operator on the way in, the issuing bank on the way out.

Who Publishes a Limit, and Who Says “Ask Your Bank”

Ten of the twenty-four books that take cards publish an actual minimum. The spread between them is wide enough to matter: DraftKings starts at $1, four books start at $20, and the ceilings run from $4,000 at ToonieBet to $50,000 at bet365, Betano and PointsBet.

theScore Bet takes the honest version of the other approach and publishes no figure of its own: the limit, it says, is set by your bank. That is true everywhere – your issuer’s daily ceiling applies on top of whatever the book allows – but theScore Bet is the only one to say so instead of leaving the field blank.

The Card Has to Come Back to Itself

Ontario books run a closed loop, and on cards it has a specific consequence. A payout to a card can normally only be made to the card the deposit came from, up to the amount deposited. Winnings above that come by another method.

This is a regulatory requirement, not a house rule, and it is why a book that lets you deposit by card can still ask you to add Interac before it will pay you. It also means an expired or replaced card is a real obstacle: if the card that funded the account no longer exists, the payout has to be re-routed, and that is a support conversation rather than a cashier setting.

What This Page Does Not Tell You

It does not tell you whether your card will be approved. That is your issuer’s decision and no operator can predict it.

It does not cover ComeOn!, which is the twenty-sixth registered book and publishes no cashier information at all outside the login: whether it takes cards, and on what terms, is not on the record.

And it does not publish figures for the books whose cells read Not published. Nine of the twenty-four take a card without stating a single number about it – no minimum, no ceiling and no processing time.

It also does not tell you which issuer will treat a gambling deposit as a cash advance. That is a decision each bank makes on its own terms, and no Ontario operator publishes a list of which ones do.

Other Ways to Pay in Ontario

Cards are the widest way in and a narrow way out. Interac e-Transfer is the one rail documented in both directions at almost every book, and our Ontario payment methods guide sets out all thirteen methods the registered books accept, with the full grid of which book takes what.

Put the thirteen rails side by side and the card is the clearest case of a method that is wide going in and narrow coming out. Visa is 24 of 26 in, 18 out; Mastercard 24 in, 14 out; American Express 10 in and none at all out. Only two methods hold their width in both directions — Interac at 24 and 23, and MuchBetter at 7 and 7. If you deposit by card, the practical move is to set up Interac before you need a payout rather than during one.
