Paysafecard Payment Method in Ontario

Eight of the 26 registered Ontario sportsbooks take a paysafecard deposit, and not one of them pays a withdrawal back to it. It is the only cash route on the register: you buy the value at a shop, and it travels one way.

That is the whole method in one line, and it is why this page is organised around the exit rather than the entry. Only one other live method on the register has the same problem – American Express, taken by 10 books on the way in and none on the way out.

These are the Ontario books that take a paysafecard deposit, in the order we rank them.

The table below is every book that names paysafecard for Ontario, ordered from the most specific published terms to the least. A dash means the book publishes nothing on that point – which is not the same as refusing it.

Book Deposit min – max Deposit speed Payout to voucher Operator fee What the book requires
BetanoBetano $5 – $1,000 Not published None on deposits 16-digit code or account
bet365bet365 $10 – $400 Instant Not published Listed as prepaid voucher
888sport888sport $10 minimum Up to 10 minutes stated outright Not published PIN voucher bought with cash
PowerPlayPowerPlay $10 – $5,000 Not published None from PowerPlay PIN voucher, $10 to $250
bwinbwin Not published Instantly None Account only since 2021
PartySportsPartySports Not published Instantly None Account only since 2021
Sports InteractionSports Interaction Not published Instant None Account only since 2021
BetwayBetway Not published Not published Not published A logo in the footer, nothing more

The payout column is the point of the table: every book gives the same answer, and the answer is no. That makes the deposit ceiling in column two the number that matters, because whatever goes in has to come out by another route entirely.

How We Checked Every Figure Here

Every number above came from the operator’s own Ontario documentation, not from a payments directory or a press release. Two dates apply, and we separate them rather than presenting stale figures as fresh ones.

No Ontario Book Pays Back to a paysafecard

Zero of the 26 registered books document paysafecard as a withdrawal route, and that is not an oversight in the paperwork – a prepaid voucher has no account behind it to send money to.

888sport is the one book that says it in the layout rather than in a sentence. Its accepted-methods page has two headed lists: “Deposit methods that can also receive withdrawals”, with Visa, Apple Pay, Interac and MuchBetter, and “Deposit methods that can’t receive withdrawals”, with Mastercard and paysafecard. Nobody else on the register draws the line that plainly.

Elsewhere the silence is the answer. bwin, PartySports and Sports Interaction publish seven paysafecard FAQs each and not one of them is about getting money out. Betano lists eight deposit methods and six withdrawal methods, and paysafecard is on the first list only.

So the practical question is not whether you can deposit this way. It is what you registered to take the money back, because you will need something else before you win anything.

Three Books Say the Voucher No Longer Works

The name is now half wrong at three of the eight books, and they publish the date it stopped being right. bwin, PartySports and Sports Interaction all carry the same FAQ – “Why can’t I deposit with paysafecard vouchers anymore?” – answered with: “From 14th September 2021 onwards, deposits can now only be made using your paysafecard account.”

At those three, paysafecard is no longer a card at all. You buy the value at a shop, load it into a registered paysafecard account, and pay from the account – and the same pages add that “the name on your account MUST match the name on your paysafecard wallet otherwise your deposit will be rejected”.

Two other books describe the opposite thing. 888sport calls it “a PIN coded voucher (pre-paid card) that can be purchased with cash”, and PowerPlay’s own help article tells you to “buy a PaySafeCard PIN voucher at a sales outlet in your country”. Neither mentions an account.

Betano is the only one that covers both cases in a single article: it troubleshoots an “invalid voucher” with a 16-digit code, and then warns that some transactions “may require you to log in to your Paysafecard account”. If you are choosing a book by how you actually hold the money, that difference matters more than any limit on this page.

bet365 Caps It at $400, PowerPlay at $5,000

The deposit ceiling is where the eight books diverge most, and the gap is more than twelve-fold. bet365 publishes $10 to $400 – the lowest maximum for any method in its Ontario cashier, where every other route runs to $10,000 or beyond. PowerPlay allows $10 to $5,000, its general per-transaction ceiling.

In between, Betano publishes $5 to $1,000 – the lowest floor of the eight, and the same $5 it applies to Interac, Apple Pay and Google Pay. 888sport sets $10 with no published ceiling.

PowerPlay explains the shape of these numbers better than the ceilings do. It publishes the denominations the voucher is sold in for Canada: $10, $30, $50, $100, $150 or $250. A $5,000 limit spread over vouchers that top out at $250 is a limit you would have to work at.

The three Entain books and Betway publish no paysafecard figures at all – which, given that three of them insist on a registered account, means the limit you meet will be paysafecard’s rather than the sportsbook’s.

The Prepaid Trap Only Betano Publishes

Depositing by voucher can leave you unable to withdraw at all, and one book on the register writes that down. Betano’s deposit article says “deposits made using prepaid cards cannot be withdrawn unless a valid Canadian withdrawal method (e.g. Interac or a Canadian bank account) is added to the account”, and then finishes the thought: “using a prepaid card without an eligible withdrawal method will therefore prevent future withdrawals.”

This is the closed loop meeting a method that has no return leg. Ontario books send money back the way it came in, and when the way it came in cannot receive money, the loop has to be closed by something else.

888sport shows the same rule from the other side, with an example rather than a warning: deposit $50 by Visa, $50 by Interac and $50 by Visa, then request $450, and the first $150 goes back through those same channels before anything else moves.

The practical order is therefore the reverse of what the cashier suggests. Register and verify a withdrawal method first, and treat the voucher as a way of funding the account rather than a way of using it.

The Only Fee Here Is Not the Sportsbook’s

None of the eight books charges for a paysafecard deposit, and the only one of them that warns about cost points away from the operator entirely. PowerPlay answers “Are there any deposit fees?” with: “PowerPlay does not impose any fees for deposits. However, please be aware that PaySafeCards may incur transaction fees.”

No other book that takes the voucher mentions this. bwin, PartySports and Sports Interaction each state flatly that “there is no charge for deposits made using paysafecard” and stop there; Betano publishes zero deposit fees across every method; bet365, 888sport and Betway publish no fee schedule for this method at all.

Both statements can be true at once, and that is the point. The sportsbook’s fee and the voucher’s fee are different bills, and only one of them appears in a help centre you can read before you deposit.

Six of the Eight Take No Wallets At All

There is a pattern in who offers this method, and it is not the one you would guess. Of the eight books that take paysafecard, only bet365 and Betano also take PayPal. Among the eighteen books that do not take paysafecard, ten do.

Read the other way, paysafecard is what a cashier offers instead of a wallet, not alongside one. The books that publish it lean on cards, Interac and the international prepaid circuit – MuchBetter, Payz, ecoVoucher, Flexepin – rather than on Apple Pay, Google Pay and PayPal.

Betway is the clearest version of that cashier: ten banking logos in the footer, of which six are prepaid or wallet brands from outside Canadian retail banking, and no wallet any Ontario player would already have on their phone.

If you want a method that both funds the account and pays you back, none of the eight is the answer. That is a job for Interac e-Transfer, which 23 books document in both directions.

What This Page Does Not Tell You

It does not tell you what paysafecard itself will charge or allow. The voucher has its own terms, its own limits and, as PowerPlay notes, its own fees – none of which an Ontario sportsbook publishes.

It does not tell you your own limits. Every figure here is the book’s default; a personal deposit limit set in your account overrides it, and a responsible gambling limit always wins.

And it does not tell you what the cashier shows after you log in. Where a book publishes nothing, we have written that rather than guessing, because a plausible number on a payments page is worth less than an honest blank.

Other Ways to Pay in Ontario

paysafecard is the only cash-bought method Ontario books publish, and one of two live methods with no way back – American Express is the other. Our Ontario payment methods guide sets out every deposit and withdrawal route the 26 registered books accept, with the full grid of which book takes what – and whatever you deposit with, plan the exit first: Interac e-Transfer is on every cashier in the province and pays back out of almost all of them.

One-way rails are rare on the register, and paysafecard is one of only two. It is named by 8 of 26 books for deposits and none for withdrawals; American Express is the other, at 10 in and none out. The two dead rails, iDebit and InstaDebit, pay out nowhere either but are barely offered going in, at 2 and 3 books. Everything else on the register pays back somewhere, which is why the exit method is the one worth choosing first: Interac at 24 in and 23 out is the widest in the province.
