New Ontario Sportsbooks

Ontario has a public directory of every licensed gambling site in the province, and it tells you nothing about which ones are new. There is no registration date, no launch date, no “added on” column – just an alphabetical list that looks identical whether a brand arrived in 2022 or last month. The regulator does not publish the dates either.
So we reconstructed them. We pulled 134 archived copies of the iGaming Ontario operator directory, from the day the market opened in April 2022 to 24 August 2026, and compared every version against the one before it. Each time a brand appears for the first time, the two surrounding snapshots give you a window: the date it was still absent, and the date it was there.
That gives a datable answer to a question the province leaves open – and it produced a list that does not match a single “new sportsbooks” page we could find. For the whole field rather than the recent arrivals, start at our comparison of Ontario sportsbooks; for a ranked selection, see the best Ontario sportsbooks.
New Ontario Sportsbooks: What We Found
- The tenth-newest sportsbook in Ontario arrived in September 2023. Only nine sports betting brands have entered the province in the three years since.
- Three of the ten belong to one company. ToonieBet, Swiper and Betinia are all Canadix Limited – three brands, one licence, arriving in 2024, 2025 and 2026.
- Ontario gained four sportsbook brands in 2026 and lost three. Rivalry left in March, Betsafe and PokerStars Sports in April – a net gain of one listed brand, and zero once you account for the one that switched its sportsbook off.
- One of the ten stopped taking bets the day before we looked. Maverick Games posted a notice dated 1 September 2026, and the directory still lists it under sports betting.
- Two of them appear to share a platform. BetNova and Titan Play hold licences through different companies and serve sports boards that match down to the event counts.
- Half of them would not open for us at all over a Canadian connection – so we publish no board figures for those, and no estimates.
How We Dated Every New Ontario Sportsbook
Nobody can look up when an Ontario sportsbook launched, so the method matters more than usual here. This is exactly what we did, and exactly what it cannot tell you.
Four Words That Are Not Interchangeable
Most “new sportsbook” lists use these as synonyms, which is how ten names turn into ten companies. We use them in one sense each, throughout this page.
The 10 Newest Sportsbooks in Ontario
Ten brands, newest first. The window is the gap between the last archived directory without the brand and the first one with it. The licence holder is the company registered with the AGCO – and it repeats more often than the brand names suggest.
Two pairs cannot be separated, so we do not pretend to. Hard Rock Bet and Betinia share one window, 21 July to 11 August 2026; Maverick Games and Monopoly share another, 11 to 13 June 2025. Inside a pair there is no evidence for an order, and inventing one would be the exact failure this page exists to avoid. So: Hard Rock Bet and Betinia are the two newest sportsbooks we could date, tied, and the rankings below carry an equals sign wherever that happens.
| # | Sportsbook (brand) | Appeared between | Licence holder |
| 1= | Hard Rock Bet | 21 Jul – 11 Aug 2026 | Hard Rock Digital (Canada) Limited |
| 1= | Betinia | 21 Jul – 11 Aug 2026 | Canadix Limited |
| 3 | DAZN Bet | 17 Jun – 8 Jul 2026 | DZBT Marketing Limited |
| 4 | BetNova | 3 Apr – 13 Apr 2026 | Goldrush Canada Limited |
| 5 | Swiper | 15 Sep – 14 Nov 2025 | Canadix Limited |
| 6= | Maverick Games | 11 – 13 Jun 2025 | Shelgeyr Ontario Ltd |
| 6= | Monopoly | 11 – 13 Jun 2025 | Bally’s Canada Inc. |
| 8 | ToonieBet | 27 Sep – 6 Oct 2024 | Canadix Limited |
| 9 | Titan Play | 3 Jun – 14 Jul 2024 | Shark77 Limited |
| 10 | STX (betting exchange) | 8 Jun – 25 Sep 2023 | SportsX, LLC |
One entry needs a caveat before you read any further. STX is on this list because the directory lists it under Sports Betting, but it is a betting exchange rather than a conventional sportsbook – the only one registered in the province. It takes sports bets, which is why it belongs here; it does not work like the other nine, and it has its own section further down.
The last line is the one worth sitting with. STX is the tenth-newest sports betting brand in Ontario, and it arrived three years ago. Any page listing more than ten “new Ontario sportsbooks” is either counting casino brands, counting sites that never carried a sportsbook, or not counting at all.
New Ontario Betting Sites by Year
Sorting every sports betting brand in the directory by the date it first appeared gives the shape of the market in one column of numbers. Twenty-two brands were in place within months of the province opening. Everything since has been a trickle.
The interesting part is not that the trickle is small. It is that the trickle never stopped. A market that filled up in its first eight months has kept absorbing two to four new sports betting brands every year since, without the total ever growing much – because brands leave as well.
Ontario Also Loses Sportsbooks: Three Left in 2026
Every “new sportsbook” list treats arrivals as the whole story. The same archive that dates arrivals also dates departures, and the departures explain why Ontario’s site count barely moves.
| Sportsbook | Last seen in the directory | Listed under |
| PokerStars Sports | 23 April 2026 | Sports Betting |
| Betsafe | 13 April 2026 | Sports Betting |
| Rivalry | 9 March 2026 | Casino, Sports Betting |
| Fitzdares | 22 March 2025 | Casino, Sports Betting |
| Unibet | 13 March 2024 | Casino, Sports Betting |
Four sports betting brands arrived in 2026 and three left, all three within six weeks of each other in March and April. The net gain for the year is one – and as the next section shows, even that one is generous.
Maverick Games Stopped Taking Bets on 1 September 2026
When we opened Maverick Games to look at its sports board, the board was empty and the site carried a notice across the top of the page:
Important: As of September 1, 2026, no new bets will be accepted on the sportsbook.

That notice is still up, and the closure has outlasted the announcement. The sports tab now carries a second message underneath it — “Hold your bets! We are uploading some cool new features at the moment… Currently, the sportsbook is unavailable.” — which reads like a pause rather than an exit, though the operator puts no date on the return.

What has not changed is the marketing. The home page still calls the brand “Ontario’s Local Casino and Sportsbook”, still shows a Sports tile beside the Casino one, and still runs a welcome offer. Someone arriving from an advert has to open the sports tab to discover that no bet can be placed.
The directory declares itself accurate as of 1 September 2026 – the very day of that notice – and still lists Maverick Games under Casino, Sports Betting. Nothing improper is happening: a directory refreshed monthly cannot reflect a change made the day it was published. But it is a clean illustration of why a provincial list is a starting point and not an answer, and why a page like this one has to be dated.
Ontario’s 2026 Ledger: Four In, Three Out, One Switched Off
“Ontario got four new sportsbooks this year” is true and almost useless on its own. Three separate things happened in 2026, and only the first one ever gets reported.
| 2026, to 2 September | Count | Which brands |
| Appeared in the directory | 4 | BetNova, DAZN Bet, Hard Rock Bet, Betinia |
| Left the directory | 3 | Rivalry, Betsafe, PokerStars Sports |
| Net change in listed brands | +1 | – |
| Still listed, but no longer taking sports bets | 1 | Maverick Games, from 1 September 2026 |
| Net change, counting Maverick Games as closed | 0 | – |
Two honest limits on that table. The arrivals column counts directory appearances, not confirmed open sportsbooks: three of the four 2026 arrivals – DAZN Bet, Hard Rock Bet and Betinia – would not open for us at all, so “it is listed” is the only claim we can make about them. And the closures column counts only what a site tells you on its front page; a brand can be listed, reachable and still not taking bets in a way nobody outside an account would see.
Ten Brands, Eight Companies: Who Actually Holds the Licences
“New sportsbook” suggests a new company entering the province. Half the time it means an existing licence holder putting up another sign.
Canadix Limited holds three of the ten. ToonieBet arrived in October 2024, Swiper in November 2025 and Betinia in August 2026 – three separate brands, three separate arrival dates, one licence. On a list of “the newest sportsbooks in Ontario” they read as three independent arrivals.
Monopoly is not a new operator at all. It is a Bally’s Canada Inc. brand, and Bally’s has been registered in Ontario since the market opened – it also runs Bally Bet, which appeared in 2022. Monopoly is a new brand on an old licence.
That leaves seven genuinely new licence holders in three years: Hard Rock Digital, Canadix, DZBT Marketing, Goldrush Canada, Shelgeyr, Shark77 and SportsX. Ten new names on the shelf, seven new companies behind them, and one of those seven has now switched its sportsbook off.
What Actually Opened When We Looked
On 2 September 2026, between 6:05 and 6:20 a.m. Eastern, we tried to open all ten over a Canadian connection, without an account.
These are two separate questions and most write-ups collapse them into one. Did the board open for us is about whether a page rendered. Were sports bets available is about whether the sportsbook was actually trading. Maverick Games is the case that proves they are not the same: the board opened perfectly and the sportsbook was shut. Where a board never opened, we cannot answer the second question at all, and we say so rather than guessing.
| Sportsbook | Board opened? | Sports bets available? | What the screen showed |
| Titan Play | Full sports board, event counts per sport, bet slip in place | ||
| BetNova | Full sports board, same layout and counts as Titan Play | ||
| STX | Exchange trading, with market counts and dollar volume per game | ||
| ToonieBet | ? | 28-entry sports menu; we did not open a priced market to confirm | |
| Maverick Games | Notice: no new bets accepted on the sportsbook from 1 September 2026 | ||
| Betinia | ? | “Access Restricted – not available for your country” | |
| Swiper | ? | The same “Access Restricted” page, word for word | |
| Hard Rock Bet | ? | Cloudflare block: “Sorry, you have been blocked” | |
| DAZN Bet | ? | Served its terms and conditions instead of a board | |
| Monopoly | ? | Blank page – the app never rendered |
? means we could not determine it, which is not the same as no. Five boards opened; three of those were unambiguously taking sports bets; one was open and closed for business; and for the five that never rendered, the honest answer is that we do not know what someone in Ontario with an account would see.
None of that is a verdict on the five that stayed shut. A site that blocks a proxy is doing its job. It does mean that for half of Ontario’s newest sportsbooks, nobody outside an account can check what is on the board – which is worth knowing before you read anyone’s description of one.
Betinia and Swiper Serve the Same Blocked Page
Two of the newest names in the province gave us an identical screen: the same layout, the same heading, the same two sentences, the same invitation to turn off your VPN. The only differences are the logo at the top and the support address at the bottom.

This is what a shared platform looks like from the outside, and it is the clearest evidence on this page that “three new sportsbooks” can mean one operation with three front doors.
BetNova and Titan Play Appear to Share a Sports Platform
The two newest boards that did open look like the same board. Both put a POPULAR block at the top of the rail with the same seven entries in the same order – Live, MLB, NFL, NBA, NHL, Tennis, Soccer – then an A-Z SPORTS list with an event count beside each sport, in the same typeface, in the same layout, with a bet slip in the same place on the right.
They are licensed through different companies: Titan Play through Shark77 Limited, BetNova through Goldrush Canada Limited.
To be precise about what this is and is not: we compared two screens, side by side, minutes apart. We have not inspected either company’s software and we make no claim about who supplies it. What we can say is that the two boards appear to use the same underlying platform or sportsbook interface.

The counts line up too. At 6:11 and 6:13 that morning both boards showed Australian Rules 16 and Baseball 17. The boards are not identical – BetNova carried Badminton with 56 events and Titan Play did not list badminton at all – so whatever is shared underneath, the two licence holders are choosing separately what to switch on.
That is worth knowing because it changes what “choice” means. If you compare these two sportsbooks and see the same sports, the same counts and the same screen, the most likely explanation is not that two independent products converged.
What the New Boards Actually Carry
Both platforms print an event count beside each sport, which almost no Ontario sportsbook does – the low-margin book at Pinnacle is the other one. So for the newest books that opened, we can quote the operator’s own numbers rather than our impressions.
Titan Play at 6:13 a.m. Eastern on 2 September 2026: Handball 106, Golf 71, Hockey 69, Basketball 66, Rugby Union 34, Formula 1 28, Rugby League 22, Football 21, MMA 20, Baseball 17, Australian Rules 16, Darts 7, Cycling 5, MotoGP 1. The A-Z list continues past the point our capture could reach, so treat that as a floor and not a total.
ToonieBet does not print counts, but its sports menu is a plain list you can count: 28 entries, from football and baseball down to pesapallo, floorball, biathlon and padel.

For scale: our count of every Ontario sports board put Pinnacle at 21 sports and NEO.bet at 12 visible. Titan Play’s floor of 14 and ToonieBet’s 28-entry menu sit inside that same range, which is the only comparison the numbers support. A longer list of sports is not evidence of better prices, and we have not compared prices at any of these ten.
STX: Ontario’s Only Betting Exchange
The tenth entry on the list is the one that does not belong on it. STX is registered under Sports Betting and Betting Exchange – the only site in the directory carrying that second label – and it works nothing like the other nine.
There is no house. You take the other side of another customer’s position, the platform takes a commission, and prices are quoted as percentages rather than odds. Its own landing page puts it in five words: trade against the market, not the house.
Two practical notes if you go looking. The domain that ranks in search, stxapp.io, is the American waiting list; the Ontario product is on stxapp.ca. And the exchange publishes something no Ontario sportsbook does: a market count you can read from outside an account, per sport and per game.

Every game card carries its own market count – 58, 59, 60, 50, 49 on the six baseball games visible – and the dollar volume traded, from $9,100 up to $36,000. Those volumes are the number that matters on an exchange: a market with nobody in it cannot fill your bet at any price. No conventional sportsbook publishes anything equivalent, and this is the one place in Ontario where you can see the size of the pool before you commit to it.
New vs Established Ontario Sportsbooks
Both sit under the same regulator, the same registration and the same obligations, so the honest list of differences is short – and none of it is about who gives you a better bet.
| A brand that arrived in 2026 | A brand that arrived in 2022 | |
| Regulation | AGCO registration and an iGO operating agreement from day one, with the same rules on limits, self-exclusion and dispute resolution. | The same registration, the same agreement, the same rules. There is no difference here at all. |
| Public record | Weeks of it. No visible history of how the operator handles a disputed settlement or a slow withdrawal. | Up to four years of terms revisions, help centre history and public complaints that anyone can read. |
| Independent reviews | Few, and many written without opening the site – five of the ten here would not open for us. | Many, and they can be checked against each other. |
| Interface | Often a recent build. Two of the ten print an event count beside each sport, which most Ontario boards do not. | Varies. Some of the province’s oldest boards are also its hardest to read. |
| Prices | Unknown. We have not compared odds or margins. | Unknown. We have seen nothing published that shows new brands price better or worse. |
The practical difference is information, not protection. A newly listed brand is not a lighter set of obligations – it is a brand about which less is known, including by us. That cuts both ways: the absence of complaints about a book that opened six weeks ago is not a clean record, it is an empty one.
What “New” Does and Does Not Tell You
A recent arrival date is a fact about paperwork. It is not a recommendation, and we are not making one here.
What an arrival date is genuinely useful for is calibrating everything else you read. When a brand has existed in the province for six weeks, any confident description of its board, its settlement speed or its service was written by someone who cannot have observed much of it – and on five of these ten, could not have opened it at all.
Bet Responsibly
You must be 19 or over and physically in Ontario to bet with a registered operator. Sportsbooks registered with the AGCO are required to provide deposit limits, time limits and self-exclusion, and every one of the ten sites here carries the iGaming Ontario and BetGuard marks that go with that registration. A newer brand is not a lighter set of rules – the obligations are identical on day one.
If gambling is causing you or someone you know harm, ConnexOntario is free, confidential and available at any hour on 1-866-531-2600.
Those tools are not optional extras. The Registrar’s Standards require every registered operator to offer deposit limits, time limits and self-exclusion from the day it opens, and to display the iGaming Ontario mark. A brand that launched last month carries the same obligations as one trading since April 2022.
Frequently Asked Questions
- What is the newest sportsbook in Ontario?
Hard Rock Bet and Betinia both appeared in the iGaming Ontario directory between 21 July and 11 August 2026, the same window. Nobody publishes exact launch dates in the province, so the archived directory is the closest verifiable answer available.
- How many new sportsbooks has Ontario had in 2026?
Four sports betting brands appeared in the provincial directory between January and 2 September 2026: BetNova, DAZN Bet, Betinia and Hard Rock Bet. Three left in the same period. That is a net gain of one listed brand, or zero once Maverick Games closed its sportsbook.
- Are new Ontario betting sites legal and regulated?
Yes. Every site in the iGaming Ontario directory is registered with the AGCO and operates under an agreement with iGO, whatever its arrival date. The obligations – age checks, deposit limits, self-exclusion – apply identically from a brand’s first day in the province.
- Why are so few new sportsbooks launching in Ontario?
Ontario filled up fast: twenty-two sports betting brands were in place within months of the market opening in April 2022. Since then the province has added between two and four a year, while others have closed or withdrawn entirely.
- Do different Ontario sportsbooks share the same owner?
Often. Canadix Limited holds three of the ten newest brands – ToonieBet, Swiper and Betinia – under one licence. Monopoly is a Bally’s Canada brand, and Bally’s has been registered in Ontario since the market opened in 2022, on a licence of its own.
- Have any sportsbooks left Ontario?
Yes. Five sports betting brands have disappeared from the directory since 2024: Unibet in March 2024, Fitzdares in March 2025, and Rivalry, Betsafe and PokerStars Sports across March and April 2026. Departures rarely get announced the way arrivals are.
- How do I check whether an Ontario betting site is licensed?
Look it up in the iGaming Ontario operator directory, which lists every site operating under an agreement with the province and names the legal entity behind each brand. Registered sites also carry the iGaming Ontario and BetGuard marks on the page.
- Is a new sportsbook better than an established one?
Nothing on this page says so. We compared arrival dates, licence holders and what each board showed – not odds, margins, payout speed or service. A newer brand simply has less public history behind it, which cuts both ways for a bettor.
- What is STX and how is it different from a sportsbook?
STX is the only site in the Ontario directory registered as a betting exchange. You take the other side of another customer’s position rather than betting against a house, prices show as percentages, and the platform charges a commission.
- Which new Ontario sportsbook has the most sports?
Of the new boards that opened for us, ToonieBet listed 28 sports on 2 September 2026 and Titan Play printed event counts across a longer A-Z list. Five of the ten would not open, so no comparison covers them.
- Are new Ontario sportsbooks safe to use?
All ten hold AGCO registration and an iGaming Ontario operating agreement, with identical obligations on deposit limits, self-exclusion and dispute resolution from their first day. What a new brand lacks is public track record, not legal protection. We have not tested payouts at any of them.
- Why do sportsbooks leave Ontario?
Neither the AGCO nor iGaming Ontario publishes a reason when a brand disappears from the directory, and the operators rarely announce it. What the archive shows is the timing: Rivalry, Betsafe and PokerStars Sports all left within six weeks of each other in 2026.
- What is the difference between a new sportsbook and a new sportsbook brand?
A brand is the site you bet on; the operator is the company holding the AGCO licence behind it. Ten new brands arrived since 2023, but only eight companies stand behind them, and Canadix Limited alone runs three of them.
