Payment Methods at Legal Ontario Betting Sites
The payment methods Ontario betting sites accept come down to 13 across the 26 registered books, and only Interac e-Transfer, Visa and Mastercard reach more than two thirds of them. Two of the thirteen have since closed, and several books take a method they will not pay back.
This page is the map of what the registered books actually accept, built from what each operator publishes about itself in Ontario rather than from a strip of logos in a footer. Where a book publishes nothing, we record that instead of filling the gap.
These are the ten books we rank highest in Ontario, with the methods each one publishes.
How We Checked This
Every method on this page comes from an Ontario source: the help centre of the AGCO-registered book itself, or its Ontario cashier documentation. Global product pages, European help articles and payment counters written for other provinces were discarded on purpose. Where a book publishes different lists for Ontario and for the rest of the world, we followed the Ontario one – and that is why Skrill, Neteller, ecoPayz, Klarna and Sofort do not appear. The one Ontario exception, Skrill on ToonieBet, is called out in its own line.
We looked at 26 registered books. Twenty-four of them publish enough for us to record what they take. Two do not: ComeOn! puts its whole cashier behind the login, and Play Fallsview publishes no banking page at all. Every count on this page is out of 26, with those two recorded as unconfirmed rather than as a refusal.
Deposit Methods at Ontario Sportsbooks
Almost every deposit at an Ontario sportsbook goes through one of thirteen rails. The table below is the short version: how many books take each method on the way in, how many document it on the way out, and what each one is actually good for.

A note on the two card rows. Several books publish a single “debit or credit card” line without naming the brand, and we record what the book names rather than what we assume. On the way in the two rows are identical – every book that names one brand names the other, and 24 of the 26 document card deposits. The two missing are ComeOn! and Play Fallsview, which publish nothing. The rows only diverge on the way out.
Withdrawal Methods at Ontario Sportsbooks
The withdrawal list is shorter than the deposit list at every book that publishes both. That gap is the single most useful thing on this page, because it is where money gets stuck.
Two methods have no documented payout route anywhere on the register. paysafecard is a prepaid voucher with no destination to send money back to, and American Express is accepted by 10 books on the way in and by none on the way out. Google Pay is rarer still: 5 books take it for deposits and 2 document it for payouts.
The gap is wide even on the rails that do work in both directions. Cards are the clearest case: 24 books take Mastercard deposits and 14 name it for withdrawals. Interac is the exception rather than the rule – 24 books take it in, 23 document it out.
It also runs the other way, and more often than you would expect. 888sport, Bally Bet, bet365 and theScore Bet document bank transfer / EFT as a payout route without offering it as a deposit method, which is what you would expect from a rail that exists mainly to move larger sums out.
One caveat on how to read those numbers: they count the books that document a method for withdrawals, not the books that allow it. Some help centres publish the deposit list and then describe payouts by rule – “back to the method you deposited with” – without repeating the list. A method with no withdrawal entry has not been refused; it has not been written down. BetMGM is the clearest example: it publishes deposit information and no separate withdrawal list, so it counts in the deposit column throughout.
The Best Payment Methods for Ontario Betting
There is no single answer, because availability changes from book to book – check the tables below before you commit to one. But if you are choosing a rail rather than a sportsbook, these are the ones that hold up:
Interac e-Transfer Is the Closest Thing to Universal
24 of the 26 books take Interac e-Transfer – which is every book on the register that publishes a cashier at all – and that makes it the only method you can count on before you have chosen where to play. Not one registered book takes only cards, or only wallets.
Interac is processed through Gigadat for most of the market, which is why the descriptor on your bank statement often reads “Gigadat” rather than the operator’s name. Three books route it differently: BetMGM and bwin (both Entain) process Interac e-Transfer in-house, and BET99 uses Paybilt Inc. – its own deposit walkthrough shows Paybilt as the recipient of the transfer.

Visa and Mastercard: Debit Works, Credit Is Up to Your Bank
Cards are the second near-universal rail: the same 24 books document card deposits. The distinction that matters is not the brand, it is debit versus credit.
Debit is the card that goes through. Every book that takes cards at all takes Canadian debit, and it is the card most often named for payouts too.
Credit is a different question, and it is asked twice. The operator has to accept it, and your issuer has to allow it – several Canadian banks decline gambling transactions on credit even where the cashier offers the option. FanDuel states plainly that both are accepted “with restrictions on some card providers”. Where credit does go through, payouts to it are slower: BetMGM publishes debit payouts as instant and credit payouts as several days.
Card withdrawals are also much less common than card deposits: 18 books name Visa for payouts and 14 name Mastercard, against 24 that take cards on the way in.
PayPal, Apple Pay and Google Pay Betting in Ontario
The wallets are the fastest way to fund a new account, and they are where the deposit-only trap bites hardest.
PayPal is the wallet Ontario books settled on: 12 of 26 take it, and 11 of those also pay back to it – the best in-to-out ratio of any wallet here. Apple Pay is on one cashier more, but only 7 books document an Apple Pay payout – the limits and payout times each book publishes are on our Apple Pay page. Google Pay is on 5, and in practice it is a deposit rail: 2 books document a payout to it.
If you fund by a method that cannot receive a withdrawal, the money has to leave by another route – and the operator will typically want that route to have received a deposit from you first. That is worth knowing before the deposit, not after the win.
Online Banking and Bank Transfers
10 of the 26 books have replaced the old wire transfer screen with an in-cashier login to your bank, routed through Trustly (some books brand it “Pay With My Bank”). The supported banks are consistent: RBC, Scotiabank, BMO, TD, National Bank and Desjardins. It is the closest thing to a card deposit that never touches a card.
The classic bank transfer / EFT rail is at 7 books for deposits and 9 for payouts – the only rail here that more books pay out with than take in. It is a payout rail first: it handles the large tickets and the cases where the closed loop forces a switch. At every book that publishes a time, it is also the slowest option on the board.
The Fastest Sportsbook Withdrawals in Ontario
Interac is among the faster payout routes at the books that publish a time – bet365 quotes 1-4 hours and Pinnacle under 24 – but it is not automatically the fastest everywhere, and the honest answer is that it depends on the book and on your own bank. At BetMGM the only payout time published in hours is PayPal’s, at 2-6.
Two things move the number more than the choice of method. The first is the internal review most books run before releasing a payout, which is counted separately from the transfer itself. The second is whether your bank has Auto Deposit switched on, which decides whether an incoming e-Transfer lands automatically or waits for you to answer a security question. Anything quoted in business days quietly excludes weekends. A payout approved on Friday afternoon with a “1-3 business days” label can arrive on Wednesday.

InstaDebit
Canadian online-banking rail, closing on a published schedule. Its own login page states that the last day to deposit was 27 February 2026 and that balances could be withdrawn until 30 April 2026, after which idle balances go back to the linked bank account.

Methods Not on This Page, and Why
Four names come up repeatedly in Canadian search results but have no Ontario source we can point to:
What Ontario Does Not Have
Two things worth stating up front, because they are common in the U.S. and absent here:
Cryptocurrency is a special case. Pinnacle publishes Bitcoin, Litecoin and Tether in its Ontario cashier. That is the only book on the register that does so, and we treat it as one book’s decision rather than a category.
Who Sets These Rules
Three different authorities are at work in an Ontario cashier, and they are worth telling apart, because only two of them are the same at every book.
The province sets who can play. You must be nineteen or older and physically inside Ontario. The full framework — the two bodies involved, the two different age limits and the register itself — is set out in our guide to legal betting in Ontario. Geolocation is checked at the start of every session, and this does not vary by operator or by payment method.
Federal law sets the identity checks. KYC – “know your customer” – is an anti-money-laundering obligation, and in practice it lands before your first withdrawal rather than your first deposit. Expect photographic ID (passport or driver’s licence), proof of an Ontario address (utility bill, bank statement, government letter) and, for card deposits, both sides of the card. Social Insurance Numbers and health cards are not accepted as ID at any book we have documented.
Each operator sets the closed loop. The principle is shared – money leaves by the rail it arrived on, before you can send it somewhere new – but it is the operator’s implementation of its AML obligations, not a single published provincial rule, and the strictness varies. 888sport publishes a worked example with proportions. DraftKings states that every withdrawal method except cheque requires a prior deposit by that same method. Most books state it in one line and let the cashier enforce it. If it matters to you, read the wording at the book you are using rather than assuming the version you met somewhere else.

Usually yes – Canada is one of the few markets where credit is still on the menu. Whether the card goes through depends on your issuer as much as on the sportsbook: several Canadian banks decline gambling transactions on credit even when the operator accepts them.
- Can I withdraw to a credit card?
Sometimes, and more slowly than to debit. Several books take credit deposits but pay winnings out only to debit, a wallet, Interac or bank transfer. BetMGM, for example, publishes debit payouts as instant and credit payouts as several days.
- Why is paysafecard deposit-only?
paysafecard is a prepaid cash voucher bought at retail, so there is no account to send funds back to. 8 Ontario books take it as a deposit and none documents a withdrawal to it.
- Do Skrill and Neteller work in Ontario?
Neteller is not in any of the 26 Ontario cashiers we read. Skrill appears in exactly one, ToonieBet’s published banking page.
- What is the "closed-loop rule"?
It is the practice of paying withdrawals back to the method you deposited with before letting you send money somewhere new. It is an anti-money-laundering requirement rather than an operator preference, which is why it applies at every registered book.
- What is the fastest way to get a payout from an Ontario sportsbook?
Interac is among the faster routes at the books that publish times – bet365 quotes 1-4 hours, Pinnacle under 24 – but the method is only half of it. The other half is the operator’s own review period, which runs before the payment method’s clock even starts.
- What ID do I need for a payout?
Photographic ID (passport or driver’s licence), proof of address in Ontario (utility bill, bank statement, government letter), and, for card deposits, both sides of the card. Social Insurance Numbers and health cards are not accepted as ID at any book we have documented.
- Does Ontario have PayNearMe, Play+ or Venmo?
No. Those are U.S. rails. Some FanDuel and Caesars articles mention them because those articles cover the American products; the Ontario products do not use them.
