PayPal Betting Sites in Ontario
Twelve of the 26 registered Ontario sportsbooks take a PayPal deposit and eleven pay back out to it – the smallest gap of any wallet in the province. DraftKings publishes the widest range at $1 to $60,000; bet365 asks the highest floor in Ontario at $40.
That near-symmetry is what separates PayPal from the other wallets here. Apple Pay is on 13 cashiers and pays back from 7; Google Pay is on 5 and pays back from 2. PayPal is the only wallet in Ontario that is a two-way door almost everywhere it exists.

Read the last three columns together and the ranking inverts. The books with the widest deposit limits are not the fastest to pay, and the fastest payout on the list – bet365 at one to four hours – sits behind the highest deposit floor in the province.
How We Checked Every Figure Here
Every number above came from the operator’s own Ontario documentation, not from a payments directory or a press release. Two dates apply, and we separate them rather than presenting stale figures as fresh ones.
PayPal’s Own Rule Blocks Card-Funded Deposits
The most common PayPal failure in an Ontario cashier is not the sportsbook’s doing. PayPal itself refuses gambling deposits funded by a linked credit or debit card – the money has to come from a linked bank account or from your PayPal balance.
PointsBet’s Ontario site is the only Ontario book that publishes this in plain words, in an article devoted to the error message: “PayPal only accepts deposits from gambling operators through the use of a linked online banking account or PayPal balance and does not accept deposits through a linked credit/debit card.”
The same rule bites harder on the way out. To receive a PayPal payout at PointsBet, “your PayPal account must also be linked to a bank account, not a debit or credit card” – so a wallet that works fine for shopping can be unable to receive your winnings.
This is the practical difference between PayPal and the phone wallets. Apple Pay and Google Pay are cards in disguise and inherit card rules. PayPal is the opposite: it refuses to be a card here, and the account behind it has to reach your bank.
DraftKings Takes $1. bet365 Asks $40.
The same wallet, at two registered books, has a floor that differs by a factor of forty. DraftKings publishes a PayPal range of $1 to $60,000 – the widest single range published for any method by any book in this province. bet365 publishes $40 to $12,500.
That $40 is not a PayPal number, it is a bet365 number. Every other deposit route in the bet365 Ontario cashier opens at $10, so the wallet costs four times the entry of a card at the same book – and it is the highest opening deposit we have recorded anywhere on the register.
The ceiling runs the other way and matters less than it looks. A $60,000 PayPal deposit at DraftKings is theoretical for almost everyone; a $40 minimum is a wall you meet on your first deposit.
Between the two extremes the market clusters tightly: $10 at Betano, ToonieBet and NEO.bet, $20 at NorthStar Bets, $5 as a general digital minimum at Caesars.
Eleven of Twelve Books Pay PayPal Back Out
Every registered book that takes PayPal also pays out to it, with one exception: NEO.bet, whose Ontario payments table marks PayPal as a deposit method with no withdrawal.
That ratio is what makes PayPal the most useful wallet on the register. Deposit by Apple Pay and there is a six-in-thirteen chance the money cannot come back the same way; with PayPal the odds are eleven in twelve.
The speeds vary more than the availability. bet365 is the fastest at 1-4 hours, BetMGM claims 2-6 hours in one place and 24 in another, Caesars pays most approved funds the same day, Betano works to a 24-hour internal window, and ToonieBet publishes 72 business hours – which, over a weekend, is a working week apart from bet365.
One rule is universal and worth planning around: every book requires a PayPal deposit before a PayPal payout is possible. PointsBet is the most explicit – the option stays greyed out until you have funded with it once.
Three Books Publish Two Different Payout Times
DraftKings, FanDuel and BetMGM each publish their PayPal payout time twice, and in every case the two numbers do not match. We report both rather than choosing the flattering one.
DraftKings gives PayPal 1-2 days in one knowledge-base article and 3-5 days in another. Both are live, both are DraftKings’ own, and there is no note reconciling them.
FanDuel publishes a “How long do withdrawals take” table that says 48 hours for PayPal, and a “Withdraw help” table that says 24-48 hours. The gap is smaller but the pattern is identical – two tables in one help centre, maintained separately.
BetMGM is the widest split of the three. Its PayPal article states the funds “will be credited to your account in 2-6 hours“; its official withdrawal chart lists PayPal as an eWallet at “within 24 hours, after internal review”. Both pages are live on help.on.betmgm.ca, and this is the second time the same operator has published two answers about the same wallet – it does it for Apple Pay too.
Treat the slower figure as the one to plan around. FanDuel does add a piece of context the others do not: “most withdrawals are reviewed within 24 hours. First-time withdrawals may take up to 48 hours”, which puts the review before the transit rather than inside it.
Betano Publishes the Whole Closed Loop
Betano does something no other Ontario book does: it prints the full map of which deposit method entitles you to which payout method, method by method.
PayPal deposits can be withdrawn by PayPal or by e-Cashout. Card deposits go back to a card or e-Cashout. And Interac – the method most Canadians reach for first – maps to e-Cashout only, not back to Interac.
Betano attaches a condition to the PayPal route that goes further than the closed loop itself: “your withdrawal must be linked to profits generated from that specific deposit made via PayPal”. Read literally, the wallet is tied not just to the account but to the money that came in through it.
The table is worth reading before your first deposit at any book, not only at Betano, because the same closed-loop logic runs everywhere on the register – it is simply undocumented almost everywhere else.
What This Page Does Not Tell You
It does not tell you your own limits. Every figure here is the book’s default; a personal deposit limit set in your account overrides it, and a responsible gambling limit always wins.
It does not tell you what PayPal will do with your account. The card-funding rule is PayPal’s, not the operator’s, and PayPal can decline a gambling transaction on its own terms with no explanation from the sportsbook.
And it does not tell you what the cashier shows after you log in. Where a book publishes nothing, we have written that rather than guessing, because a plausible number on a payments page is worth less than an honest blank.
