PointsBet Ontario Review 2026: A Good Product With Careless Paperwork

PointsBet is a legally registered Ontario operator, run by Pointsbet Canada Operations 1 Inc. and listed on the iGaming Ontario register for casino and sports betting. It has been here since April 2022, it publishes its deposit and withdrawal limits in Canadian dollars, and it answers a real phone line around the clock – three things several bigger names still will not do. The problem is everything written around the product: the help centre gives two different ceilings and two different timings for the same withdrawal, the corporate site aims its main button at an address that does not exist, and the Android app is rated 2.74. Here is what we checked, and what we found.
How We Checked PointsBet
This review is built on primary sources only. We opened PointsBet’s Ontario site from a Canadian connection, captured what we saw, and read what the operator itself publishes: all 302 help centre articles, the general terms and conditions, and the configuration file the app itself loads to know what it is allowed to do in this province.
Is PointsBet Legal in Ontario?
Yes. PointsBet is operated by Pointsbet Canada Operations 1 Inc., listed on the iGaming Ontario register for casino and sports betting, with on.pointsbet.ca given as the official site.
The product footer states it plainly: licensed and regulated by the Alcohol and Gaming Commission of Ontario, under the conduct and management of iGaming Ontario. The same footer carries ConnexOntario’s helpline and a panel for BetGuard, the province’s centralised self-exclusion register.

You must be 19 or older and physically in Ontario to place a bet. Your balance is in Canadian dollars, and the minimum stake is 50 cents.
The terms are titled “General Terms and Conditions – Canada – Ontario”, carry a version number – 1.8 – and a date: 5 January 2026. That is better housekeeping than several books on the register manage.
One thing PointsBet does not publish is its registration number. It is not in the footer and not in the opening clauses of the terms, where bwin puts OPIG1233926 and Sports Interaction puts OPIG1242525. The company and the regulator are named; the licence number is not.
Three Domains, and Two of Them Leave the Country
This is the strangest thing we found, and it takes thirty seconds to reproduce.
PointsBet Canada runs two different sites. on.pointsbet.ca is the product – the place where you actually bet. www.pointsbet.ca is a separate marketing site built in WordPress. But type the domain without the www, and something else happens:
| Address | What you get |
|---|---|
| on.pointsbet.ca | The Ontario sportsbook and casino |
| www.pointsbet.ca | The corporate marketing site |
| pointsbet.ca | Redirects to investors.pointsbet.com.au |
| pointsbetcanada.com | Redirects to investors.pointsbet.com.au |
| on.www.pointsbet.ca | Does not resolve at all |
That would be a footnote, except for where those addresses are printed.
The help centre article “How do I register with PointsBet Canada?” was updated on 28 August 2026 – three days before we checked, and the second most recently edited article on the whole site. Step 1 reads: “Go to PointsBet.ca”. Typed as written, that sends a prospective Ontario customer to an Australian investor relations page.
On the corporate site, the button labelled “CHECK OUT THE SPORTSBOOK” – the one link whose entire job is to deliver a visitor to the betting product – points at https://on.www.pointsbet.ca. That address does not exist. And the “FREE ENTRY” button on the same page points at pointsbetcanada.com, which lands on the same Australian investor site.
None of this affects your money. All of it tells you how much attention the front door is getting.
PointsBet Sports Betting
The sportsbook loads and works, which is worth saying: several Ontario books run apps that never render outside their own session, and PointsBet’s does not hide behind one.

The rail across the top carries a Parlay Builder and Pick’Em, alongside MLB, tennis, NCAAF, EPL, MLS, cricket, UFC, NFL and CFL. Same Game Parlay has its own help section, and Share A Bet lets you pass a slip to someone else.
Cash out is available on selected markets at the trader’s discretion, and the value is non-negotiable. Once taken it is final. Partial cash out was removed permanently on 18 December, and PointsBet’s own cash out article says so – but a second help centre article, updated on 4 March 2026, still explains what happens “if you partially cash out”. The rule survives in writing nearly three months after the feature it describes was switched off.
Live streaming is there, with two conditions PointsBet states plainly: you must be in Ontario, and you must hold $10 or more in your balance. The sports actually streamed are mostly table tennis, tennis, European basketball and soccer; everything else gets an animated visualisation rather than video.
What PointsBet does not publish anywhere public is a market count, a sports count, or a price example. We are not going to invent one.
PointsBet Casino
The casino is the part of the operation that names its suppliers, and it names them generously. The lobby organises its shelves by studio, so you can see exactly whose games you are playing.

The shelves we counted name Pragmatic Play, Play’n GO, Hacksaw, Red Tiger, Blueprint, Relax, IGT, Gaming Corps and 1X2 Network, plus rows for Live Game Shows and Hot Live Casino carrying the usual Crazy Time, Monopoly and Lightning titles.
Useful details from the casino help section:
One editing slip worth a smile: the article “What types of Casino games do you offer” explains blackjack and then, halfway through, repeats the baccarat drawing rules verbatim – telling blackjack players what happens when “neither side is dealt a natural (an 8 or 9 total)”.
Payment Methods
PointsBet publishes its Ontario limits in Canadian dollars, which is more than several competitors do. Seven deposit methods are available in the app; the footer advertises six of them.

Three rules that catch people out, all in PointsBet’s own words. Gift cards and prepaid cards are not accepted. A credit card deposit may attract a cash advance fee from your own bank, which PointsBet does not charge and cannot waive. And PayPal will not fund a gambling deposit from a card – it needs a PayPal balance or a linked bank account.
Interac here is a “Request Money” transfer rather than the send-money kind: PointsBet asks, you approve inside your banking app. Your own bank’s per-transaction and rolling limits apply on top of PointsBet’s.
Withdrawals: Three Ways Out, and Three Different Answers
You can deposit eight ways. You can withdraw three. No card is a withdrawal method – not Visa, not Mastercard, not Amex – and PayPal only unlocks once you have deposited with PayPal at least once.
| Method | Minimum | Maximum | After the 1-day review |
|---|---|---|---|
![]() |
$5 | $3,000 or $25,000 | 1-2 hours or 1-2 days |
![]() |

Every withdrawal carries a standard one business day processing time before any of the above starts. Then the numbers stop agreeing with each other:
The corporate site, meanwhile, promises “90% automated withdrawals with no transaction fees”. The fee half of that we can confirm – we found no operator fee on any method. The 90% we cannot.
Two further rules. Only one withdrawal at a time. Enabling Interac Autodeposit is the single practical thing you can do to speed the money up; without it, a mistyped email bounces the payment back and you wait up to three calendar days for it.
The PointsBet App
One app carries both products. It has been in the App Store since 3 April 2022, which makes PointsBet one of the original Ontario cohort. The reception depends entirely on which phone you own.
| Store | Rating | Ratings count | Details |
|---|---|---|---|
| iOS | 4.38 | 1,842 | v3.79.0, 25 Aug 2026, iOS 15.1+, 145.6 MB, rated 17+ |
| Android | 2.74 | 927 | Updated 18 Aug 2026, 50,000+ installs, “Adults only 18+” |
A gap of 1.6 points between two stores serving the same app is not something we saw at any other Ontario book on the day we measured. If you are on Android, that number is the single most useful fact in this review.
The second number worth reading is the audience. Measured on the same day, in the same Canadian store: bet365 has 176,268 iOS ratings, FanDuel 43,780, theScore 29,026, DraftKings 17,369, BetMGM 11,683, Sports Interaction 9,256, Betano 4,490, BetRivers 4,053 – and PointsBet 1,842. Four and a half years in the market, and only BET99 has fewer.
On rating alone PointsBet sits ninth of ten: BetRivers 4.80, FanDuel 4.78, theScore 4.74, bet365 4.70, DraftKings 4.68, BetMGM 4.59, Betano 4.58, Sports Interaction 4.48, PointsBet 4.38, BET99 4.16.
Responsible Gambling Tools
This is where PointsBet is genuinely strong, and the detail is published rather than implied. Every tool tightens immediately and loosens slowly.
| Tool | Options | To relax it |
|---|---|---|
| Deposit limit | Daily, weekly, monthly | Wait out the period, then 24 hours |
| Loss limit | Daily, weekly, monthly | Wait out the period, then 24 hours |
| Spend limit | Daily, weekly, monthly | Wait out the period, then 24 hours |
| Time on site | Daily | 72 hours from midnight, then 24 hours |
| Take a break | 1, 7, 30, 60 or 90 days | Locked out for the full period |
| Self-exclusion | 6 months, 1 year, 5 years | No login for the duration |
Account history is downloadable for 24 months. The complaints route is written down properly: live chat first, keep the ticket number and transcript, then the AGCO on 416-326-8700 for regulatory matters, or iGaming Ontario at igaming@igamingontario.ca for transactional ones. The corporate site states the operation is RG Check accredited.
Ontario Only: How the Geo-Fence Works
PointsBet detects and monitors location on every bet, and re-checks at intervals while you play. You can deposit, withdraw and check lines from any province – what you cannot do outside Ontario is place a bet or cash one out.
The terms are blunt about circumvention: use third-party software to fake your location and the account is suspended and may be reported to the regulator. Accounts are one per person, and third-party withdrawals are not permitted.
The Corporate Site Is Selling a Different Province
Ontario is the only province where PointsBet is live today. Open www.pointsbet.ca from Ontario and everything above the fold is a pre-registration campaign for Alberta, followed by a panel headed “Coming Soon to Alberta”. Then the footer of the same page describes the product as “Available in Ontario (19+) and Alberta (18+)”. Coming soon in one section and already available in another, on one screen.

Scroll to the testimonials and it gets stranger. One of the three is credited to a “Heavy Equipment Operator, Fort McMurray AB” describing a casino session in the province the page above it says has not launched yet. Another is signed by a “Nurse Practioner” – the operator’s spelling, not ours.
The buttons are worse than the copy. We tested every outbound link on the page and recorded where each one lands:
There is one more thing, and it is only visible in the page’s source. A section headed “States Where We Are Live!”, listing Colorado, Illinois, Indiana, Iowa, Michigan, New Jersey, West Virginia and Virginia, is still in the HTML of this Canadian site. It no longer draws on screen – the block collapses to an empty strip – so nobody removed it. It just stopped being rendered.
The terms, remember, define this site as the “Website” you are agreeing to. It is the shop window, and it has not been dressed in years.
Customer Support
The best-run part of the operation, and the easiest to verify. PointsBet publishes three channels, all staffed 24/7: live chat, a phone line on 1-833-441-1940, and email, with a stated response time of about an hour and a promise of 24 hours at worst.
A published, always-open phone number is rare on the Ontario register – several books reviewed on this site offer no phone line at all. Identity verification is quoted at up to 24 hours; a withdrawal verification by the payments team can take 3 to 5 business days, which is the number to remember before your first cash-out.
The one wrinkle is cosmetic: the help centre gives the support address as customercare@pointsbet.com in some articles and customercare@pointsbet.ca in others, and tells you the live chat button is in the bottom right corner on one page and the bottom left on another.
What We Could Not Check
Three things, stated plainly rather than guessed:
Final Verdict
PointsBet Ontario is a good product wrapped in careless paperwork. The app loads and works, the casino names its studios instead of hiding them, the responsible gambling tools are among the most detailed on the register, support answers a real phone at three in the morning, and the payment limits are published in Canadian dollars – which several bigger names still will not do.
Against that: the withdrawal timings contradict each other inside the operator’s own help centre, the Interac ceiling appears as two different numbers depending on which document you open, the Android app is rated 2.74, and the corporate front door still aims its main button at an address that does not exist.
| Category | Score | Why |
|---|---|---|
| Legal | 4.0 | Registered, versioned terms, BetGuard – but no licence number |
| Sports | 3.5 | Parlay Builder, Pick’Em, streaming; no published depth |
| Casino | 4.0 | Nine studios named on the shelves, RTP published, free play |
| Documentation | 2.0 | Withdrawal figures disagree; corporate links dead; no licence number |
| Payments | 3.0 | CAD limits published, no fees; timings contradict each other |
| App | 3.0 | 4.38 on iOS, 2.74 on Android, smallest audience but one |
| Support | 4.5 | 24/7 chat, email and a published phone line |
Overall we place PointsBet at 3.5 out of 5 for Ontario bettors. The product is better than the paperwork, and the paperwork is what you sign.
Who it suits: casino players who like knowing which studio made the game, anyone who wants a phone number answered at any hour, bettors who want their limits published in dollars, and iPhone users. Who it does not: Android users, anyone who expects a payout back to the card they deposited with, and anyone who wants one straight answer about how long a withdrawal takes.
PointsBet FAQs
- Is PointsBet legal in Ontario?
Yes. PointsBet is operated by Pointsbet Canada Operations 1 Inc. and appears on the iGaming Ontario register for casino and sports betting, licensed by the Alcohol and Gaming Commission of Ontario. You must be 19 or older and physically located in Ontario to place a bet, and your balance is held in Canadian dollars.
- Which website is the real PointsBet Ontario site?
on.pointsbet.ca is the product – the site where you actually bet. www.pointsbet.ca is a separate corporate marketing site. Typed without the www, pointsbet.ca redirects to an Australian investor relations page, and so does pointsbetcanada.com. PointsBet’s own registration guide tells you to go to PointsBet.ca, and the corporate site’s main button points at on.www.pointsbet.ca, which does not resolve at all.
- How long do PointsBet withdrawals take?
Every withdrawal carries a standard one business day processing time first. After that, PointsBet publishes two different answers for the same methods: its general timings article says Interac arrives in 1-2 hours and Online Banking in 1-2 business days, while the article for each method says 1-2 and 2-3 business days respectively. PayPal is consistently quoted at about 30 minutes.
- Can I withdraw from PointsBet with a credit card?
No. You can deposit with Visa, Mastercard, American Express, Apple Pay and Google Pay, but none of them is a withdrawal method. PointsBet pays out three ways only: Interac e-Transfer, PayPal and Online Banking by Trustly. PayPal withdrawals also require that you have deposited with PayPal at least once before.
- What is the minimum deposit at PointsBet Ontario?
$5 on every method where PointsBet publishes a figure – Interac e-Transfer, cards, PayPal and Online Banking. Interac deposits are capped at $3,000, cards and PayPal at $50,000, and Online Banking at $10,000. No minimum or maximum is published for Apple Pay or Google Pay. The minimum stake on a bet is 50 cents.
19+. Ontario only. Gambling can be addictive. Free, confidential help is available 24/7 from ConnexOntario: call 1-866-531-2600, text 247247, or visit connexontario.ca.
Alternatives to PointsBet
If the Android rating or the contradictory withdrawal timings put you off, two AGCO-registered books make the closest comparison. BetRivers is the opposite trade-off: the highest-rated Ontario app we measured at 4.80, with payment limits and timings that matched its own help centre line for line when we checked them, though its casino does not name its studios the way PointsBet’s shelves do. bet365 is where the audience is – 176,268 iOS ratings against PointsBet’s 1,842 – and it publishes seven ways to fund an account with the limits attached, but it publishes no phone line of its own and its casino does not tell you which studio built the game you are opening.
