Parlay Betting in Ontario: How Parlays and Same-Game Parlays Work

A parlay bet joins several bets into one ticket: every leg has to win, and the odds – and the book’s margin – multiply. On 29 October 2026 the same four-leg NHL parlay offered $67.50 on $10 at the best of 12 Ontario books and $59.07 at the worst.
That multiplication is the whole appeal – and the whole catch.
What Is a Parlay?
A parlay – called an accumulator or multi in other countries – combines two or more selections into a single bet. If every selection, or leg, wins, the parlay pays the product of their odds. If any leg loses, the whole ticket loses.
How Parlay Odds Are Calculated
Convert each leg to decimal odds, multiply them, and multiply the result by your stake. Here are the four NHL favourites at NorthStar Bets on 29 October:
| Leg | American | Decimal |
|---|---|---|
| Hurricanes to beat the Blue Jackets | -265 | 1.38 |
| Mammoth to beat the Penguins | -130 | 1.77 |
| Lightning to beat the Jets | -235 | 1.43 |
| Senators to beat the Kings | -109 | 1.92 |
| Four-leg parlay | +571 | 6.7064 |
A $10 parlay returns $67.06: $10 x
