Sports Betting Ontario (SportsBettingInOntario.ca) is an independent guide to the sportsbooks legally registered to take bets in Ontario. We do not take bets and we do not run a sportsbook. This page is about how we check operators, who publishes the site and how it is funded.

What we do is read the operators’ own Ontario terms, open their betting boards from inside the province, price real games, count their casino lobbies, and check every brand against the provincial register – then publish what we find, including, quite often, that the operator publishes nothing at all. Where a figure is missing from this site, it is missing because nobody published it.

Why This Site Exists

Ontario was the first province in Canada to let private operators take a sports bet directly, rather than through a provincial lottery, and until Alberta opened its market on 13 July 2026 it was the only one. Since the regulated market opened on 4 April 2022, a sportsbook can accept real-money wagers from people in the province provided it is registered with the Alcohol and Gaming Commission of Ontario and holds an operating agreement with iGaming Ontario. For bettors that was a real improvement: your money sits with a company that answers to a regulator here.

It also created a harder question, which is how to choose between 34 of them. Most of what is published to help with that choice does not help much. Comparison pages repeat the number of sports an operator advertises for the whole world, describe every payout as “fast”, and rank on things a reader has no way of checking. Very often they quote a brand’s global page to an Ontario reader, when the Ontario product has different rules, different payment methods and different limits.

So we built this site on the parts that can actually be checked: what an operator commits to in its Ontario terms, what is really on its Ontario board, and whether the company named on the website is the company named in the register.

What You Will Find Here

What the Work Looks Like in Practice

The short version of this section, on almost every affiliate site, is that experts test each sportsbook thoroughly. That sentence carries no information. Here are three findings instead, all of which came out of doing the boring part.

In August we counted 228 games on Betway’s public Ontario casino shelf, and published that figure. When we opened every category from inside the province in October, the real catalogue held 1,788 – so we corrected our own review. On the same day, Betinia and Swiper, two brands run by the same company on the same platform, priced the same NHL game very differently: a 4.4% margin on the money line at one, 6% at the other, and 4.1% against 10% on the total. And Caesars‘s own terms set the minimum age at 21, in a province where the legal age is 19.

None of that is difficult. It just takes counting instead of copying, and a willingness to write “not published” in a table when an operator has published nothing, rather than filling the gap with an average.

Who Publishes This Site

SportsBettingInOntario.ca is published by Gambling Digital Marketing, a company based in Lisbon that runs casino and sports betting comparison sites in regulated markets in Europe, South America and North America. Each market gets its own site and its own rules, because the rules genuinely differ: what a comparison site may publish in Ontario is much narrower than what it may publish in most of Europe.

Reviews are researched and written from primary sources – the operator’s own Ontario pages and terms, its board and lobby as they appear from inside the province, the Canadian app store listings, and the iGaming Ontario register – and every brand’s registration is re-checked before a page is updated, because operators join the register and leave it. Where a figure comes from a count we made rather than from a published statement, the page says so. As Senior Editor, Emily Carter then reviews our guides for accuracy, sourcing and consistency against the editorial standards on this page.

How the Site Is Funded, and What That Does Not Buy

Some of our outbound links are commercial: if you open an account with an operator after following one, that operator may pay us a commission. There is no cost to you, and it is the only way the site earns anything. We think you should know that before you read a single rating, which is why it is on this page, in our Terms of Use and in the footer of every page.

What commission does not buy is a position. No operator can pay for a score, a rank or inclusion in a list, and ratings are the same whether or not a commercial relationship exists. We review brands we earn nothing from, and we mark down brands we do earn from – for a cashier that contradicts itself, a wrong helpline number, or terms that never say how long a withdrawal takes. A comparison site whose ratings track its commercial deals is worth nothing to a reader.

One more rule we follow rather than work around: Ontario’s Registrar’s Standards prohibit advertising bonuses and other inducements to the general public, so there are no welcome offers, bonus tables or promo codes anywhere on this site.

What We Are Not

Tell Us When We Are Wrong

Operators change minimums, processing times, payment methods and terms without announcing it, and a page that is right in one month can be wrong in the next. We would rather hear about a mistake than leave it standing. Send us the page and the figure at info@sportsbettinginontario.ca, and we will check it against the operator’s current Ontario terms and correct it in place – in the review and anywhere else the same fact appears, so the site does not end up holding two versions of it.

And the check we would want anyone to make before ours: every operator we write about can be confirmed, in one search, on the iGaming Ontario register. If a site is not there, nothing else about it matters.
