Privacy Policy
This site collects little about you, and never your name, email address or betting details. There are no accounts, no contact form, no advertising pixels and no behavioural advertising. This privacy policy explains what is collected, who handles it and how to refuse the analytics.
Every page loads Google Analytics 4, whose two cookies are set only if you accept them in the cookie banner, to count visits and show us which pages are read; beyond that, our host keeps ordinary server logs.
The Short Version
Most privacy policies are long because the site behind them collects a great deal. This one is short for the opposite reason. As of 28 October 2026, reading sportsbettinginontario.ca involves:
You can verify most of this yourself: open your browser’s developer tools on any page of this site and look at the network and storage tabs.
Who Is Responsible for Your Information
The organization responsible for this website is Gambling Digital Marketing, a company based in Lisbon, Portugal, contactable at info@sportsbettinginontario.ca.
This site is written for readers in Ontario, so this policy follows the Personal Information Protection and Electronic Documents Act (PIPEDA), the federal statute that governs how private-sector organizations handle personal information in the province. Because the publisher is established in Portugal, we also honour the rights you have under the EU General Data Protection Regulation.
What We Collect
Server Logs
Like every website, this one runs on a web server that records requests. Those log entries typically contain your IP address, the date and time, the page requested, the referring page and your browser’s user-agent string. They are generated by the hosting infrastructure, not by us, and we use them only to keep the site running and to investigate abuse or attacks.
We do not combine server logs with anything else, we do not use them to build a profile, and we do not attempt to identify individual readers from them.
Google Analytics
Every page of this site loads Google Analytics 4, Google’s web analytics service, through the Google tag (gtag.js) served from www.googletagmanager.com, with Google’s Consent Mode set to deny analytics storage until you choose. Until you click Accept in the cookie banner, the tag sets no cookie and can send Google only a basic cookieless signal that a page was viewed, without an identifier; you can change your choice at any time from the cookie banner. Once you accept, the tag sends Google:
- the address and title of the page, and the page or search that brought you to it;
- how you use the page, such as how long you stay on it;
- device and browser details: device type, operating system, browser, screen size and language;
- an approximate location (country, region and city) that Google works out from your IP address;
- the random identifier stored in the _ga cookie, so that a browser that comes back is counted as a returning visitor rather than a new one.
For readers outside the EU, the UK and Switzerland, which includes Ontario, Google uses the IP address to estimate that location and to filter out spam traffic, never associates the raw IP address with the cookie identifier, and discards it after use. For readers in the EU, the UK and Switzerland, Analytics does not log or store the IP address at all. Google explains both in its help pages on IP addresses for users outside the EU, Switzerland and the UK and on EU, Switzerland and UK data. The two cookies Analytics sets are listed, with their purpose and lifetime, in our Cookie Policy.
Why We Use Analytics
We use Analytics for one purpose: to see which pages readers find useful, which ones they leave quickly and how they find the site, so that we know what to update and what to fix. Analytics does not give us your name, your email address or anything about your betting accounts. We do not sell this data, we do not use it to advertise to you, and we run no behavioural advertising of any kind. Google processes what the tag sends under its own policy, set out in How Google uses information from sites or apps that use our services.
How to Refuse Analytics
You can stop Google Analytics from measuring your visits, and the site works exactly the same either way:
- Install Google’s opt-out add-on. The official Google Analytics opt-out browser add-on, for Chrome, Firefox, Safari and Edge, stops the tag from sending data to Analytics on every site that uses it.
- Block or delete the cookies. In your browser’s settings, block cookies for sportsbettinginontario.ca or delete the _ga cookies after a visit. These are first-party cookies, set on our own domain, so blocking only third-party cookies will not stop them.
- Block tracking scripts. A browser or extension that blocks trackers will usually stop the Google tag from loading at all.
Search Console Data
We use Google Search Console to see which search queries bring people to this site. Search Console reports aggregate figures only – a query, a number of clicks, an average position. It contains no names, no IP addresses and nothing that identifies an individual reader, and it is measured by Google’s search index rather than by any code running on this site.
Comments
The site does not display a comment form and publishes no reader comments, so nothing is collected through comments.
What We Do Not Collect
We think the absence list matters more than the presence list, so here it is plainly. We do not collect your name, address, date of birth, phone number or payment details. We never see your betting account, your balance, your deposits, your withdrawals or your bet history. We have no access to any account you hold with any operator, and no operator sends us your personal information.
We do not run retargeting, we do not build advertising audiences, and we do not fingerprint devices.
What Happens When You Click Through to an Operator
This is the one moment where a third party is meaningfully involved, so it deserves a clear explanation.
When you follow a link from this site to a sportsbook, you leave sportsbettinginontario.ca and enter that operator’s website. The operator’s own privacy policy, terms and cookie practices apply from that point on, and ours stop. Commercial links pass first through a short redirect on our own domain (an address beginning /go/), which sets no cookie, and then carry a tracking parameter that lets the operator report back to us that a referral arrived. Our link plugin counts each click on a /go/ link – which link, when, and on which page – and, like a server log entry, that click record can include the IP address the click came from. We use it only to count clicks per link.
That reporting is aggregate and commercial: it tells us how many people arrived and how many opened accounts. It does not tell us who you are. We do not receive your name, your email address, your deposits or your betting activity, and we have no way to link a registration back to an individual reader of this site.
Everything the operator then collects – identity documents, address verification, payment information, your betting record – is collected by the operator under its own policy and under the AGCO’s requirements. If you want to know what a book does with your data, read that book’s privacy policy before you register.
Third Parties We Rely On
| Service | Role | What it may see |
|---|---|---|
| Web host | Serves the site and its content delivery layer | Server log entries: IP address, timestamp, page, user-agent |
| Google Analytics 4 (Google) | Measures how the site is used, through the Google tag on every page | Pages viewed and how you arrived, time on the page, device and browser details, approximate location, the _ga cookie identifier; your IP address only to derive location and filter spam |
| jQuery CDN (code.jquery.com) | Delivers the jQuery JavaScript library that the site’s pages load | Your IP address and browser details when it sends the file; it sets no cookie |
| Google Search Console | Aggregate search performance reporting | Aggregate query and click data, no individual identifiers |
| Sportsbook operators | Destination of outbound links | Nothing, until you choose to click through and leave this site |
There is no advertising network in that table, and no data broker, because we use neither. Some of these providers operate servers outside Canada, which means information they hold may be processed in another country and may be accessible to that country’s legal authorities.
How Long Anything Is Kept
Server logs are retained by our host for its standard operational period and then rotated out. The analytics cookies stay in your browser for the lifetimes listed in the Cookie Policy, unless you delete them first. Aggregate search reporting is retained by Google under its own retention terms. We hold no other store of personal information about readers, because we do not collect one.
Security
The site is served over HTTPS on every page. Administrative access is limited and protected. No transmission over the internet is perfectly secure, and we will not claim otherwise – but the practical protection here is structural rather than technical: information that was never collected cannot be breached.
Age: This Site Is Not for Minors
Sports betting in Ontario is restricted to adults aged 19 and over, and this site is written for them. It is not directed at children, we do not knowingly collect information from anyone under 19, and no content here is designed to appeal to minors. If you believe a minor has submitted information to us, contact us and we will delete it.
Your Rights Under PIPEDA
Canadian privacy law gives you rights over personal information an organization holds about you. In practice we hold very little, but the rights apply regardless:
- Access. Ask what personal information we hold about you and how it has been used.
- Correction. Ask us to correct information that is inaccurate or incomplete.
- Deletion. Ask us to delete information we hold.
- Withdrawal of consent. Withdraw consent to any processing that relies on it, subject to legal or contractual limits.
- Complaint. Complain to us, and escalate if you are not satisfied.
Send any request to info@sportsbettinginontario.ca. We will respond within thirty days, which is the period PIPEDA sets. If our answer does not satisfy you, you may complain to the Office of the Privacy Commissioner of Canada at 1-800-282-1376 or priv.gc.ca.
If you are reading from the European Economic Area or the United Kingdom, we will honour equivalent requests for access, correction, erasure and objection, and you may also complain to the Portuguese data protection authority, the CNPD.
Changes to This Policy
If we change what this site collects, this page changes with it and the date at the top changes too. We do not re-date the page for cosmetic edits, so the date you see is the date something substantive actually changed.

Privacy Policy FAQs
- What personal information does this site collect?
